Title: grafar cl25 - silly question
Post by: guest311 on September 27, 2011, 09:43:26 PM
OK guys,

you have to have at least one silly question each day, so here's todays....

I've got a two tone green class 25 that I'm looking to strip and repaint into BR blue.

looking at the bodyshell it looks as though it's possible the cab fronts are seperate mouldings, and would seperate from the main body shell.

this would obviously make it much easier to repaint, but before I try to dis-assemble a one piece shell, am I right?

cheers

Also if you don't mask up then when you spray it blue the pegs and other bits become thicker so the nose won't fit back on without much cleaning, swearing and pain. Guess how I learned that the first time.

If you are respraying it then you might also want to think about fixing the doors (should be inset) and maybe one or two other bits ? I seem to remember BernardTPM did an article about doing that a long time ago.

A rounded file should sort out any clogged up holes for the nose pegs. If any of the pegs break a small dab of superglue gel on the pegs should fix the nose back in place.

Hi all,

thank you very much for your replies.

looking more closely I see that the 'face' of the cab comes off, leaving a piece across the end of the body, so I can see where I need to seperate it.

Etched Pixels, thanks for that, I'll see if I can get hold of the article on modifying the doors etc.

once again, thank you for your help.

cheers
