Hello,
Hattons have announced that they will honour pre-order prices for forthcoming Farish (and Bachmann) products. I.E. anyone who has a pre-order will get their model(s) at the price they ordered at, regardless of any price increases between then and the time of release. This means if you know what you are after, you have a chance to avoid the 20% price-hike if you are willing to pre-order.
Also, they will not be increasing their pre-order prices until Saturday. This means that if we pre-order before the end of the week, we can still get forthcoming items at the prices they were announced at in 2013. On Saturday, the pre-order prices will go up in line with Bachmann's announced 20% increase (although this is an average across the range rather than a fixed figure for each product).
I have some items on pre-order already but I have decided to bite the bullet and pre-order a 6400 and a pair of autocoaches before the price increase kicks in. I know that several people have wondered what the big box shifters will do about pre-orders. Now we know and we have a couple of days grace to get some (comparitive) bargains.
Hello all just put in my pre-order for 10 polybulk wagons saved £100 :thankyousign:
Fred
I did the same 😃
A 31 ,25, a duchess train pack, a train load of staniers in maroon, 1 of every br blue mk1's and some wagons
So happy. Just hope they don't come all at once especially since I now have to pay extra tax and work longer to pay for Geoff and colin😛
Bart
Hello Fred here again  Think i will order some blue mk1s too :beers:
You go Fred!
Bart
Me too... Just preordered a pair of 37's. Did resist the urge to order the Voyager trainset (£118 for 4 car set, track and controller, or £140 on its own!!!)
Just ordered them bart, plus blue deltic and blue 31 ,br class 4 tank engine. :NGaugersRule:
well done fred, i have the dp1 and would really like a 55 but im likeing the smaller class of locos at the moment mainly because you run smaller trains but of course i have the big ones too for the express etc. would be keen to see how much room there is in a 55 for sound
hattons in my opinion areb doing well by us to honour their pre order prices and also for giving us all the heads up on the price increase date. in the past hattons have looked after me re price with pre orders the ivatt 2mt a good example i paid 48pounds on release it was i think 72pounds now its around the 80's
bart
I agree with you bart.Hattons are the tops with me to.As to sound in the deltic it will have to wait till next year blowen my budget for this year with all the pre-orders my barclaycard jest flew out the window and hid up a tree.

Ivatts are £110 RRP according to the new Farish list. No idea what the new Hattons price will be after the increase.
Thanks for the tip off! Just pre-ordered a voyager and a 37/4 in large logo.
Tempted by a couple of others too but don't have the funds to go crazy. :'(

I know what you mean, a nice gentle spread over 6 months would cushion the blow a bit (especially when you add in the Dapol pre-orders too :-[ ).
Talking of Dapol, rails have weathered Western Invader in stock today .
Fred
Just ordered a blue 31,blue 25,motorail guvs, metals 37 and dapol blue grey hst, blue 33\0 and a blue 50.....hope they come in bit by bit as it doesn't feel like a saving!
I've just mailed Rails to see if they will honour the prices on pre-orders I placed in March last year totalling some £750, so thanks for the heads up and I'll report back on receipt of a reply :worried:
Have ordered an N class!
I've joined the panic ordering with a 477 and DBSO...

I'm also interested in their reply as Rails is my preferred supplier - however I won't pre-order stuff just for the sake of it, only if there was something forthcoming that fits into my collection.
"sigh" I want to strike while prices are still lower, but my budget is gone for now. :veryangry: In fact, going to Ehattons right now is just an exercise in torture. Why are they all so pretty?
Have we all not made a lot of noise whilst at the end the problem isn't as big as it looked like. yes the buses etc are much more expensive, yes the coaches are getting 20 % more expensive, but on the loco side price increases of 3,4 5% ?
Don't understand me wrong I also want to buy as cheap as possible, but 5 % is reasonable and for the coaches, they will appear cheaper soon because they are over priced now and once everybody refuse to buy them the price will come back to an acceptable level ?
just my 2 cents...
M.

Hi
According to the Rails price promise on their website the prices are only valid for 12 months from order date. So I would interpret that to mean anything ordered prior to May 2013 will be subjected to a price increase.
Cheers
Paul
The reply so far is it has to be referred to the Manager tomorrow.
Perhaps I ought to hint that I'm a member of the NGF with 3434 members >:D

Too right,
Foxy Wolfy
Hmmm... thinking about the green Warship "Onslaught" to go with the maroon "Hermes"... :hmmm:
Many thanks for the heads up Karhedron :thankyousign:
A weathered Class 25, a nice looking BR Blue weathered Warship and a Class 31 now on pre-order at the old prices :D
But why, oh why did I have to order another Dapol Western at the same time ;) Another parcel to hide from the mrs...
Well I have sucumbed and pre-orderd a 64xx from Hattons, at the current price on their site. Looking forward to a Dapol Grange or two but future Farish purchases will be well considered before parting with my money. I'm intrigued to see how Dapol respond with any price increases in their range.

OK - I have had a response from the Manager at Rails and their position is this:-
Of course, they will honour the 12 month price freeze from date of order.
Some items which previously carried a price now read "TBA". This is because Bachmann have pulled those prices and not given new ones. It would appear Bachmann themselves do not know how much they will be charged by China so cannot give an RRP to the stockist. Rails have been/are badgering Bachmann for information.
If, when the items arrive at Rails, the price is different to any you may have been quoted Rails will contact you on the basis of "Your order is now in but the price is £?? - do you still require it?"
I was also informed this price rise is possibly an interim one to another rise in July. More information will be posted as it comes to me.I think you must make your own decision as to move anything to Hattons in order to catch their price guarantee, but I feel convinced Rails are doing their best in a difficult situation whilst trying to remain competitive and in business. From my own experience in the commercial world I think what Hattons are doing is great from our point of view but also think it will bite them in the backside profit wise.
How does this 12 month thing work?
If a product was pre-ordered in May 2013 by me, and my mate ordered it in November 2013 at the same pre-order price. Then the price goes up and the products are delivered in June 2014. Do I get my order bounced and pay the full price but my mate is OK 'cos he ordered it later.
Doesn't seem very fair to penalise my earlier commitment :hmmm:
Hi
That's how I read it and to be fair to Rails it is clearly stated on their website under the price promise link.
Cheers

Arrgg
I think I'll cancel me' pre orders and reorder tomorrow
Thanks for putting this up, have immediately ordered the 64xx in BR Green, Castle in Late BR Crest, Two Auto Trailers and a CCT from Hattons for the eventual BR Western Region Layout I plan to do at some point :D
Hmm, sounds rather like my shopping list. ;)
D832 Onslaught now on pre-order! :D Will have to take care to select the right when chipped for DCC, might get confused with D823 Hermes! :confused1:
I had already pre-ordered 16 of the new Mk11f coaches some time ago but decided to go ahead and get some other stuff ordered up while I still had the chance. Thanks for posting this up.
