Epson printers :censored:
I have purchased some Smartmodels kits to print out and build :thumbsup:
After an exhaustive search of local stationers I finally tracked down some Ink-jet compatible OHP film
to print out the windows :uneasy:
Only to find out my printer wont accept the film :veryangry: :veryangry: :veryangry: :censored:
So its either off to Staples to get them to print the windows :doh:
Or buy a new printer
Anyone got any suggestions for one that works with film
preferably an all in one

What model printer do you have dude? I've got some OHP film for mine which I bought on eBay, have yet to try it in my printer though!
A lot of inkjets try to sense the paper type, size and position. If you can turn this off then you should be ok. You may also find that if the slides have a white strip down one side it matters which side.
My old HP you had to tell it the paper size and type by hand and then it would work.

I have tried everything I can think of to get it to work :veryangry:
The film I have has a white removable stripe along the top edge :hmmm:
I will have another go later
If it doesn't work I may have to fix my printer with my FBH >:D

Have you checked that you are using the right sort of film. I had a problem initially and discovered that you need the sort with a white band across the top, so that the printer has something to register against when it feeds it in. I got a ream off Amazon ages ago, quite cheaply, and I think they'll last me for ever.

That is the type of film that I have :thumbsup:
It prints fine over the white band but as soon as it comes off this band it stops printing and spits the film out :veryangry2:

I'm not sure if it will stop it printing but are you putting the OHP paper in the right way up?

so as long as they are right then it must be an issue with the film

The OHP film I use has a white backing paper, is this the sort you are using? If not, try sticking a blank piece of paper to it, using a bit of double sided tape.
I use a HP Deskjet F2180 and use Ryman 100 micron inkjet transparent film.
It has the removable paper strip and the instructions for it say the side to be printed on is the opposite side to the removable strip.
Have used several sheets at a time in the paper feed tray and had no problems at all.
Its the ryman 100 micron paper that i have got
May look at getting a new hp printer
As they are the only ones that i can find that state they will print onto transparancy film

There is two main types of film, one which is for laser type printers and the other for inkjets. I have a HP all-in-one printer(F4280). It's a oldish printer now but It can print on card and film and what I do like is Hp do updates all the time unlike Epson.
By the way I got the Film from Hobbycraft, my local Staples had stopped stocking it, said it was a slow mover.
I use genuine 3M OHP film in my Epson PX730WD and have never had any problems. I think the problem with some of the cheaper e-bay offerings may be the film thickness which can cause problems with some printers.
I have just had a look and I can find nothing in the Epson settings that says AUTO PAPER DETECT :doh:
Could just be me being thick :-[
Maybe I should try updating the driver and see if that makes a difference :hmmm:

I have the same printer and agree that I cannot find the suggested setting.
I had a try on OHP and failed as well. Was going to provide printed window sheets for kits for customers to cut out. Not happened.
