Hi all,
Am thinking of having a bit a clear out of some stock. Would stick them on the NGF first anyway but as have never sold on ebay this could be my only port of call.
Just got me thinking, as it's all 'continental', is it possible to do a 'continental' sub board (and American/ Japanese for those guys) on the 'for sale' bit or is that very complicated.
I don't always have time to look through all the GF and Bachmann listings but a heads up on something European would be great.
Could put a message on the normal 'continental' section to alert people but that would clog it up and prob get moved.
Just a thought.
Thanks weave.
Members do sometimes put up a post to say they are going to have a clear out. I think you will be fine in putting a message on the Continental Board :)
My view is that having specialist sub-boards would make N'porium too complex. A deciding factor for me would be how many items we would regularly get in each section to justify their existence :D
I agree with Pengi so recommend a post in the Continental board.
At least you could 'Bump' it every now and then :D
Why stop there? Trackage? Buildings? This could get complicated. If it isn't broke, why try to fix it?

...and continental buildings...
Then there's sorting out all the people wh have posted in the wrong one...
Sorry, wish I'd never mentioned it.
KEEP CALM AND CARRY ON!
I hope the comments above were meant tongue in cheek, weave was only asking a question and seeking clarification.
Just a shame we all can't be as perfect as others :hmmm:
I for one who models Continental would be happy to see a sub board. Maybe just one added in the for sale sections saying Continental. As there is probably just a handful of continental modellers on here? Just list everything e.g. locos, coaches, buildings etc in that one section??
Cheers, Anthony
Maybe a "non british outline" might be sufficient if there was to be any split at all, I would guess the amount of Brtish to rest of world might be a bit more equal and only add one sub board.

Must admit I'm dubious its worth the effort, and where do you put stuff like a Eurostar or class 66 ?
How about "Scale" and "Oversized"
that would cover continental and UK respectively and make it clear where to list any given 66.
N'porium currently has 15 sections (16 if the Shop is included). Starting a board especially for Continental modellers means four new sections potentially (auction, buy it now, swaps, wanted) :o
According to our 'What part of the world are you modelling' poll (http://www.ngaugeforum.co.uk/SMFN/index.php?topic=8843.msg207579#msg207579), 10% of our modellers are doing Continental layouts. So there is not a compelling case, right now, for having dedicated Continental N'porium sections - :sorrysign:

Accepting that everything
not British is classed as
Continental (or Rest of the World if you prefer) it is actually 29% as 71% model 'British' 1:148
Perhaps a tad more compelling ;)
Also that poll was started about 18 months ago with only 240 votes cast, perhaps it would be running a new poll to see where the forum stands nowadays on members modelling habits and to enable the forum to truly reflect its membership, however the result should turn out.
A link could be put in the forum header to keep it in peoples' consciousness for a period of time to try and get a true reflection of the members modelling preferences.

That is true Lawrence
I am still to be convinced that having all of the separate N'porium Boards set up for combined Rest of the World/Continental is justified at this time (and this is coming from someone who has more Continental/Rest of world stock than UK :))
Checking the current listings there are two pages of listings + one listing :D. If the overall number of listings increases significantly and the number of non-UK listings increases significantly then there may be a case for introducing other boards ;)
Should clarify my comments Jane. They were merely an indication that your premise may be construed on out of date or incorrect data taken from the vote of around 7% of the current membership, hence my suggestion of a new poll not new sub boards, yet ;)
