Title: Crossness pumping station
Post by: Papyrus on March 22, 2014, 12:35:07 PM
Here is something for your bucket list!

Forget the Taj Mahal or Great Barrier Reef (sorry, antipodeans...) - this is something you must see before you die. It consists of four huge beam engines housed in the most ornate Victorian engine house, located on the south side of the Thames Estuary, not far from the M25 Dartford Crossing. One of the engines has been restored to working order and there are five open days this year in which the engine is fired up, the first being Sunday 6th April. If you want more info, this is the website - http://www.crossness.org.uk/. (http://www.crossness.org.uk/.)

I took the other half there last year for a birthday treat (I know how to treat a girl...) and she said it was one of the best days out ever. This is a bit of video I took on that occasion to whet your appetite...

Go and see it - you won't regret it.

Cheers,

Chris
