Title: Coupling Compatability.
Post by: Bassman on March 16, 2014, 10:38:19 PM
Can some one please tell if couplings between the major manufacturerslike Bachmann Dapol and Peco are compatable.

I ask because I, m new to N gauge, previously, years ago I had OO and the couplings between Hornby, Lima and Mainline although similar gave problems if mixed.

As supplied, the standard Rapido-type couplings are compatible between the three manufacturers you mention.

Many thanks, that certainly gives me more options.

I run all three on my layout and have never had any probs.

In theory they are all the same design and so should be compatible, however there are slight variations in the design, particularly on older stock, which can occasionally cause issues on poorly laid track...

I agree, but if Barry is new to N gauge, it will be new stock?

Even if you are going to run old stuff, Barry, all should be well if, as PLD suggests, you lay your track carefully.
