Roger Daltry is a big model railway fan and I heard on the radio last week that he and a friend are trying to get a National Model Railway Museum funding together, I wonder if it incorporates N Gauge as these rockers always seem to have loads of space for 00 Gauge.
Good Luck to hime but I think he wants it in the south of the country.
Who ? :smiley-laughing:
"Funding" usually means other people's money. Hope he's not trying to get it from Joe Public, he must have squillions in his piggybank.
I think it is being considered in Ashford?
Peter,
If he gets this project going he'll be Happy Jack. If he doesn't we won't get fooled again.
 (self imposed)

Peter,
As long there is a mainline station then that would be good, The German one in Hamburg will take some beating, now that would be great.
A sponsor for the track would be useful. Tomy, can you hear me? :D
Yes he is one of many significant backers of the Ashford International Model Railway Centre of Excellence lead by Cliff Persons, owner of the Gresley Beat.
All the details are on their website http://www.aimrec.co.uk/ (http://www.aimrec.co.uk/)
I don't think there are and real concerns regarding the finances; those involved are putting in a substantial amount, but unlike some other famous names don't shout about it...
Will it be a see me, feel me, touch me sort of arrangement?
or will fiddling about be frowned upon?
Sometimes there's no substitute for a hands on exhibit
:dighole:
Maybe Baba O'Railway............. :D
Thanks for the web address and here is something I have never heard of until I visited the said site.

Anyone else heard of this before?

Rumoured that there will be a "Magic Bus" connection from non rail served areas.
Seriously though it would be nice to see this come to fruition, although I do not see the best gauge mentioned in the prospectus....

Just to enter into the spirit....as long as it doesn't go to the Dogs and they Substitute something else.
This is one thread I can't explain.
they be needing a lot of Wire and Glass.
no doubt one little visitor will want to know what a cross between a point and crossing is "it's a Slip kid!"
will they model the 5:15
there will be lots of joining together and possibly relaying.
but as for the current funding its not enough
...And because of the nature of our hobby, we WILL be fooled again (and again., and again). :hmmm: :hmmm:

when did we change the topic to Dapol delivery dates? :confused2: :help:
It was in Railway Modeller the other week... or was it Rail... I definitely saw it somewhere...
And hopefully he'll be able to run an authentic 5.15...
Pete @ EGLM
Being serious now, instead of just trying to list all the who collection.
I personally can't see this ever happening.
Well not in my generation :D
Well I Can't Explain what I'm reading here........
:-[
:beers:
Has anybody counted how many who titles there are in this post, don't think any young ones will know these is it just My Generation ?
lil Chris :
Who are you to ask such a question....
BTW: I believe that Mr. Daltrey's model railway interests were evident very early on. Why else would he have titled his successive albums: 'It's Hard' and 'Endless Wire', and following these up with 'Join Together'?
One of the B-sides was also called 'Waltz with a Pig', so he evidently knew his locomotives....
Not sure though, exactly what to make of 'The 1st Singles Box' though - perhaps he was into Sterlings at the time...? (and he evidently knew what such things would cost; After all, would he have written 'Put the Money Down' if that wasn't the case?).
Of course, like most of us, in the hobby, 'I'm a Boy' probably described his sentiments as far as model railway is concerned, especially as he also wrote 'can't explain', which says a lot.
Finally, I didn't realise until very recently that since the very early days of its existence, Mr. Daltry's group has had a well-established fan-base amongst the members of the Strigidae family. How else can you explain the well-known owl call of '2hit, 2 Who'?
Thought you might like to know...

No idea! I could probably name two Who songs at a push so most of 'em I wouldn't even recognise in this thread :D
Paul
Who are you hoo hoo, hoo hoo? :D
I'm Paul, it says so at the bottom of my post :P
Paul
Bealman
Makes you want to 'owl doesn't it?
Oh, it does too. Slight case of Antipodean Quadrophenia :uneasy:
I'm totally in the dark whether any of these replies are song titles or not! :D
My Generation and Pinball Wizard is about my limit ;)
Paul
All songs to be found here.

Rest assured that every 'Boomer' here knows exactly what is what. I'm one myself, so of course, we ARE 'talking about my generation', even if we can't now say that I can see for miles, and miles , and miles ... (tho we could at one time :) :) )
That's why we have to take the magic bus......
Fun innit?
Isn't a 'boomer' a male kangaroo? :D According to Rolf Harris anyway, as in "Six White Boomers", which is probably what I was listening to (along with "Pinky & Perky" - don't go there, very scary! :o ) at the time you lot were listening to these Who people. According to Wikipedia their fourth album came out the year I popped into the world ;)

If you think Pinky and Perky were scary you evidently haven't watched 'Bill and Ben', 'Noggin the Nog' or 'Ivor'.
The fact that I can even recall the names shows how ingrained they became...
Be very, very thankful - you missed nothing...
(But then before that, there was STEAM RADIO!!!!!)
I know Noggin the Nog and Ivor the Engine very well, BIG BIG fan of Smallfilms productions and particularly their ultimate masterpiece - The Clangers :bounce:
Paul
The sad thing for me as "The Who" rose to prominence I was a rocker, ie leather jacket long hair and motorcycle and it was pretty well known "The Who" where mod's ( not a ref to the mod's on here of course). I was introduced to their music by my sister and has music goes they were good. By the way I was not into all the fighting that went on a that time ,mod's and rockers etc, I'm peace loving and only 5'-1" so usually avoid such things........
It was an interesting time. I pined after one of those motor scooters with all the mirrors all over 'em, but me father wouldn't get me one and I certainly couldn't afford one!
