just bought an 89.... ulp... :laugh3: :heart2:
Class 89?
If the answer to the above post is "Yes" and you did in fact order a Class 89 then congrats.....
...Which livery are you going for?

Sorry, I should have been clearer, CJM Class 89 it is!
As they only have Swallow and GNER left.... Swallow (I don't do that post privatisation shenanigans....)
That and he has a Swallow one ready to go :D (whoever would have thought it would be easier to buy a new CJM class 89 than a new Farish 47 in Blue...)
I always thought she looked best in Mainline livery, but they have run out of those and Intercity Swallow is a close second. And the Swallow should go nicely with my Mk 4s.
I thought the opportunity for a Class 89 might never present itself again, so I managed to make it make sense and took the plunge.
Early birthday present to myself :bounce:
Just seen the pictures and it is something very special. Which birthday are you celebrating? Whatever one it is, this is THE way to celebrate!
35.... :'(
How do you explain to people that tiny loco is worth more than your car (probably), is more powerful than your car (probably), and more reliable than your car (almost certainly) :hmmm:

:claphappy:
Well jell :beers:
Wow, that was quick!
Very impressive, have you had a play....sorry....test of running capabilities?
Skyline2uk
So far I'm mostly scared to touch it... :-[
I had it out for a once over to check for any transit damage and it all seems fine... I'll work up to actually running it ::)
I know what you mean Luke, I was like that with my Eurostar..
But I am a firm believer that such things are made to be enjoyed, and running them is a part of that.
Of course being careful goes without saying, but such a fine piece of engineering would be a shame to waste entirely.
Skyline2uk
I'll work up to it :D

Running in has commenced. It's smoooooooooottttttthhhhhhh as silk....
And the mass means it 'clatters' like a proper engine over the points :D
Sounds amazing. I'd like a CJM loco one day!
There's a driver in it and everything!!!
Would so like one but in the original livery, seen an intercity one on ebay but very wary.

If its the one I am thinking of I think you may be correct in being wary. Have a look on the "eBay madness" thread to check, but I believe that one is a very early example of a CJM 89. Its very nice to look at I am sure, but I don't believe it has the Saturn Chassis that the latest one has (as purchased Mr Piewalker).
CJM website also has a warning about some recent eBay items.
