Title: NEA & NHA
Post by: REGP on January 25, 2014, 10:46:11 PM
Hi Folks
Can anyone enlighten me as to what the BR designations
NEA and NHA mean when applied to coaches ?

They appear to be BG's and having acquired a couple I was  wondering how they were used, tried Google but not really come up with anything.

Thanks in anticipation

Ray

Apparently it's the TOPA CARKND code. N for a loco hauled non passenger coach, E and H both seem to designate BGs, and the A for Air brakes. As far as I can find from the wikipedia...

Google finds this:

It appears NHA were cleared for 110mph but otherwise identical to NEA.

Thanks for the info guys.

It looks as if I can run them behind any suitable Intercity loco then, which is great.
