Title: static crane
Post by: Alex on January 10, 2014, 09:49:18 PM
Hi,

I have seen a partial photo of a static crane I want to use on my WPR layout. The link shows the partial photo. You can just make out the crane behind the engine. Go to the third thumbnail photo down and click on it for the full photo.

http://canmore.rcahms.gov.uk/en/site/93379/digital_images/wemyss+private+railway/ (http://canmore.rcahms.gov.uk/en/site/93379/digital_images/wemyss+private+railway/)

It looks relatively straightforward to build. A simple triangular structure with a jib. I'm assuming it's a hand crane and has a limited traverse.

Would anyone have a clearer picture of this type of crane? I've tried the web but no luck.

Any help would be appreciated.

The Wemyss Private Railway site shows a colour photo of a similar crane, very simple
construction similar to the above.

Hi Agrippa,

Thanks for that. Further looking has thrown up a colour photo but it's still partially obscured by an engine.
