Fingers crossed for Derby
Definitely! This would help out our manufacturers a great deal.
They've just lost out in supplying 6 new trams for Croydon, and the £32,000,000 contract has gone to Germany. ::)
Depends on how the contract is specified. If it's a PFI deal, like Nu-Labour specified for Thameslink then Siemens are a shoe-in due to their vastly superior credit rating. Even if the trains cost the same a Bombardier order would have an extra £50m on top to cover the credit risk. It's effectively impossible for them to compete on these sorts of contracts.
Ain't capitalism wonderful...? Just goes to show that it doesn't matter who you vote for, The Government always gets elected. >:( >:( >:(
I feel a rant coming on, so will shut up now! :-X
