Title: Colour assistance please?
Post by: petercharlesfagg on November 11, 2013, 07:00:27 PM
I have purchased a number of packing case and load (Barrels etc.) plastic models from the International Model Boat show last week.

What Humbrol colour would you recommend to represent sawn timber?

I have studied several colour charts but my colour blindness makes it difficult to choose, it might look right to me but I would hate to give others even more ammunition to use against me! I'm serious!

Regards, Peter.

VAL834   Model Color - Natural Wood  'Vallejo acrylic' is the best I can come up with Peter. Cheer john.

Is there a particular brand of paint you use? The Vallejo stuff is nice to work with, Games workshop's acrylics used to be pretty good when I used them years ago but they are pricey. I like (thinned) Tamiya acrylics.

I've found with acrylics that primer is a must...

Your not wrong there Luke, Tamiya is like using glue which is probably why my grandson gave up modelling. All about hot or cold thinners?.Cheers john.
