I ended up with three listings of the same stuff under "my listings". I wanted to delete two and edit one to reflect what I actually wanted for the locos which was between 60 and 80 depending which one. They are still under my listings. I managed to erase the photo of the 50 locos, but to not the rest.
I wanted to offer these very nice locos to N Gaugers on the forum.
I guess I will go ahead and put them on eBay as I have bought and sold plenty that way before.
The way the Classifieds work you wouldn't be able to sell them like that anyway.
How would someone buy one loco from a listing of 50? It's impossible! Just like eBay you need to list them individually so someone can end that particular listing by purchasing it.
Paul
What I was thinking of is showing the photograph of the 50 locos. Members can then phone or email me with regards to locos of interest to them. We could agree a price and then I would send them a PayPal invoice which they would use to pay the item, This is method which is a recognised PayPal procedure for items sold other than through eBay. The buyer then still gets the full PayPal protection, etc.
If you think about it, a swap also has to be done with communication between the two parties before a deal is concluded.
I am happy to sell on eBay where I have a score of over 400 with 100% feeback. I just thought that through the forum I could sell the locos cheaper to the advantage of members.
Best regards, Dave.
The classifieds are set up in such a way on this forum to make it simpler for people to see what people are selling and bid/buy in single lots.
I know on other forums that I have used in the past people can make a list of items in a topic and attach prices to them and then once an item is sold they can remove it from the list. That can work well but it can also bring up some issues and confusion if more than one person wants an item.
In my opinion it's better to keep to the system we have now as it's just a lot more secure in general.
If you do decide to list on ebay, you're going to have to photograph and list separately anyway unless you put them in as a job lot which could mean you miss out a bit.
Tom.
As has been said by Tom, the idea of the Classifieds is to have a listing for each item, so no confusion and no arguments! :) I've seen it many a time on forums.
I'm sure that if members are committing to buying an item then they'd rather see a close up picture of the individual item rather than a mass photo where they can't study the item that they want. I know that my first question to you would be "Do you have a better picture of such and such"! And you'd get the same on eBay I'd imagine.
It's very good of you to put them on here first though, so I'm sure others would be grateful to you if you listed them on the Classifieds individually. I know that I would be, as I'm a DCC modeller. ;) :)

Think he's alluding to new alias to be found in the ebay scam thread.

Thanks Tank, I will go ahead and put some of the locos on the forum classifieds over the next week or so.
I understand the points made. I will be selling on a basis of if someone is not happy with a loco they can return it.
I do not understand "Bachmans" comment about a mysterious eBayer ??? Could you enlighten me ???
If anyone wants to check me out on eBay my eBay name is "tenpies" and I live in Penarth near Cardiff.
My nickname of "tenpies" suggests how I became "Big Dave" !! PS I am not a dealer - I gave up trains quite a few years back after building an American Z gauge layout. Recently a friend offered me his layout and collection for a very reasonable figure. The layout was massive L shape 8ft x 8ft and 4ft wide and I was lucky enough to sell it on eBay. I want to build a modular layout of 3 sections each 4ft by 2ft 6inches. I want only about 8 locos and would like a couple with sound fitted. I have 3 sets of DCC controllers and over 140 items of rolling stock (coaches, tankers and wagons). I want to sell items to fund my ideal layout etc.
All the best. Dave

Don't worry Dave, I think it was a tongue-in-cheek comment not specifically aimed at you ;)
If you look in the Ebay section of the forum there's a long-running thread about a rogue trader that some of the forum members collaborated on to get him noticed by the police. Mr B was just joking that maybe 'he' was getting his own back :D
