Title: 47612 to 47461
Post by: guest311 on October 26, 2013, 10:02:23 PM
I'm looking to change a 47612 in Intercity to 47461 in ScotRail blue stripe.

apart from the renumber and changing the Intercity to ScotRail, I need to replace the red bodyside stripe with a blue one.

does anyone know of a source of suitable transfer stripes, or suggest a suitable paint for me to mask and either brush or airbrush the stripe.

many thanks in advance for any help.

cheers

You also need to partially repaint each end to remove the black headcode panel; the upper Dark Executive Grey and the lower Warning Panel Yellow

You might want to consider 47642 instead, which carried InterCity livery with ScotRail logos, and after its naming had black headcode panels

I'm in the process of renumbering one to 47643 in a very similar manner. I chose this one after looking at www.class47.co.uk (http://www.class47.co.uk) and seeing which needed the minimal work to turn into a Scotrail version (bear in mind there's a 47/7 in the blue stripe scotrail livery due from Farish sometime soon)!

Cheers,
Alan

Hi,

Railmatch paint RM 208 is the correct shade of blue or you could use Fox transfers for the stripe.

I am doing 47642 in 1991 condition as it had black head code boxes then.

47461 had a flush cab at one end which also complicates doing that one. Plenty of pics on the web, thats how i narrowed it down to 642  :)

looks like it will need to be

couldn't find anything in N so looks like a case of trim down OO.

I'm looking at 1986 for 47461, must admit I hadn't noticed the different ends  :dunce:

was this due to accident repair ?

looks like further research needed.

again, many thanks for all answers

just had a quick check on RPA and there clear as a bell it shows two differnt ends, in BR blue in 81 and there on.

dohhhhh

re the 47/7 to come in ScotRail, I assume there would still be the same problem with the ends, but would it otherwise be just a case of removing the jumper cables and renumbering ?

beginning to think 461 may have been a bad choice

Its a shame but depends how far you want to go with a partial repaint/respray.
Must admit, 461 is an old favourite of mine.

Hi Alan,

The N gauge ones are code F2220/1 or F2220 - if you put that into the Fox site, you'll find them.

Farish are providing 47710 in ScotRail livery within the next few days

To convert to 47461 :
Removal of TDM jumpers at each end
Repositioning of electrical warning flashes
Removal of brake pipe above fuel tanks
ScotRail logo requires to be replaced on one side
Mini Snowplough brackets fitted (snowploughs not always fitted)
Note repositioning of ETH for above
The A end is accident damage repaired

You can therefore renumber (plus remove the nameplate in some cases) to :
47704
47706
47708 (replacing your current Farish version)
47709
47711
47712
47713
47714
47715
47716
47717

Note the following :
47708 and 47711 one of the BR and ScotRail logos on one side will need to be replaced
47715 has a partial issue, similar as above, due to the large gap between the BR and ScotRail logos on one side

Equally, most of the locos were repainted twice so many not be an issue depending on configuration
Those that had incorrect logos were repainted as a priority

The others could be renumbered, but note the following :
47701 B end
47702 B end
47703 B end
47705 A end
47707 A end
