Title: Will the new system of placing the motor in the tender affect DCC sound option
Post by: Big Dave on October 18, 2013, 09:42:53 AM
I understand that steam trains converted to sound involve placing the speaker in the tender. Based on that I wonder how one would fit sound to the new locos coming out with a motor in the tender and drive shaft through to the loco.

It makes it a right pain in the butt. The newest Farish locos seem to be going back to loco drive however.

As I understand it, Dapol is the only company to make steam locos like this.  Farish seems to have gone from loco drive to tender drive and now back to loco drive with the latest, coreless motors.

I'm not that bothered about sound but if you can give a N gauge A4 working lights, smoke and sound then I believe just about anything is possible!
