Title: Phobia
Post by: findus on August 14, 2011, 09:19:14 AM

I dont think I genuinely have a phobia of anything. Does anyone have one where they would actually class it as a phobia and not a strong dislike towards something.

unless i can count my fear of getting married in 12 days  :-\

anyway, Interested in seeing what if so

Hey Dave ahem Findus,

You have 12 1/2 days left on here, so well done making the most of it  :smiley-laughing:

Looking down from even moderate height would be a definite phobia for me, even through a thick glass wall where there is absolutely no risk whatever. That said, I can use stepladders fairly well once I've been up and down them a few times, just not so good if I look down.

Leanne (the mrs, and I'll lay off the "you've all this ahead" jokes) cannot be near or look at spiders, even on television. If there is an un-captured one in a room that she is in, she has to leave until I've caught it and put it outside.

Ha ha thanks

Spiders are very common, thats the reason i wanted to see what everybody has a phobia about.. my trainee wife has this phobia and if she finds a spider she will scream and it scares the *%@$ out of me.
So i do have a phobia, her finding spiders and screaming  :-[

Yes, I have the spider one, Arachnophobia.
Anything bigger than my little fingernail and I'm leaving the room!  :o
Thats my worst one.

Then its Ophidiophobia,  Spheksophobia, Herpetophobia and Pagophobia.
They range from bad to fairly bad.

I'm a lot better than I used to be with Demophobia and Belonephobia.
Quite mild really.
My Photophobia is practically non-existent now.

And yes, they are all real!

Mine is claustrophobia or cleithrophobia, depending on how you look at it.  It's a fear of being trapped.  A small space is not a problem if I am not trapped.  I have suffered from it on a crowded tube train, in the back seat (just going to the shops!) of a two door car (strangely only actually on the way home - the ride out I was fine!) and also when I got wedged in a rollercoaster car in the biggest room I've ever been in.  I can get the brain-meltdown feeling just watching things on TV like someone trapped in a car crash or someone pot-holing.

It all stems from when I was about 7 or 8 and my older sister rolled me up in an old piece of carpet and left me there.  I think she thought it was funny.  I think I was lucky not to suffocate.

There doesn't appear to be a greek term for the fear of one's wife's discovery of your total for the last 60 days on eBay.
