Title: Tomix Thomas, and Kato Eurostar Range
Post by: GWR-Kris on October 01, 2013, 10:06:10 AM
Does anyone know if they have stopped production for these items. As im finiding it hard to find stock of either Percy, extra wagons etc and any kato eurostar items. Odd stuff appears here and there but seems to be getting less and less these days,

Not sure about the Thomas range; but being hugely popular in Japan any reissue may not be too far away.

For the Eurostar, the base set is still available from various sources; I often see second-hand models as well. Forget the add-on sets; I have seen them selling for obscene amounts of money - £150-£200 for four carriages!

The Japanese models are batch produced. They publish a schedule of when they should next be re-run, although in Japanese and they tend to roughly hit it.

and for some of the Tomix stuff (the new items I believe)

The Eurostar was re-run in 2012 as an Olympic celebration item, but not I believe the extra coaches which are indeed like gold dust. It's an ancient model from the Kato perspective with very old coupler designs, no DCC support, no lighting unit support etc. Still a fantastic model.

Hopefully they'll do the new London-Amsterdam Eurostar units!
