Title: Richard Lacey (Wheeltapper)
Post by: ddolfelin on August 12, 2011, 03:21:47 PM
Many will be aware that our modelling colleague Richard Lacey (Wheeltapper) is battling with a very nasty form of the big C.

His courage during the treatments has been an example for us all.

As evidence of his continued fighting spirit, he is determined to raise some funds for the Treatment Centre and has hit on the following idea:

Most of us have unused wagons which we will not miss.
If you feel able to donate a wagon, please e-mail Richard (Wheeltapper) for forwarding details. richardfen@hotmail.co.uk
Richard will sell them to the best advantage.

I don't expect that Richard will refuse donations of a different nature!

Other than as a donor and a wish that the effort does well, I'm not connected with this but I am aware that the treatment has impacted on the nerves in his fingers and it's a bit of a struggle to use the keyboard at times.

Richard will be taking a break from fund raising for his charity until after Christmas to rest and to avoid the seasonal mail difficulties.
So far he has been a hero and raised around £2,000 from modellers' kind donations of wagons and cash.
Most of the wagons are sold to our fellow known modellers.

However, he has listed unsold wagons on eBay bringing scrotes out of the woodwork.
He's had complaints that they are not as described and, when they are returned, they are obviously not the same wagons.
So the thieving little inadequates get a newer wagon and a refund.
Sickening - they know it's to help terminally ill patients.

How awful!  It's a shame eBay attracts con artists.  I hope things pick up for him on there.

I was going to say there are no words to describe these people, but there are. Unpostable though.  :o :( >:(
