Title: Have a drink on me!
Post by: OwL on August 05, 2011, 10:50:20 PM
What is your all time favorite drink (for those of us who drink)?

Mine is Carlsberg.

I would love to hear any drink related stories surrounding your favorite tipple (keep it clean ladies and gents, this is a family forum :o)

Here goes:

11 years ago, i used to live in Caterham Surrey with my then 'wife'. We lived in a 3 bedroon semi-detached, and one weekend my then wife invited her mum over for the weekend. On the friday night, she and my mum in law decided to go to Croydon for a 'girlie meal'
I decided to go to Warlingham for ONE pint with the lads............. This turned out to be an all night seshhon!!

I rolled up back home at approx 4AM!!, I went upstairs with full intention to go to sleep, but I got the wrong room.

I ended up in bed with Judith the mother in law, in stead of Jenny, my then wife, I got the wrong room...

I was that drunk that i got in bed with my mum in law (by mistake), cuddled up with her and squezzed her left Boob.... My saving grave was that I was fully clothed and before squezzing I whisperd in her ear that 'I love you Jenny' (before crashing into an alco slumber)

All i remember is Judith, my mum in law shooting in the air like a cat on a hot tin roof...I then faded into alcoholic ignorance knowing that I had yet again messed up big time..... THANKS CARLSBERG...

Suffce to say, Saturday morning was the most difficult breakfast innterogation I ever had...... verdict at the time not guilty...... :smiley-laughing:

Best: Ice cold Skol served properly. Very few pubs can do that. Usually the gas isn't regulated properly or the pipes aren't cleaned the correct way.
Good: Ice cold Harp.
Bad: Warm Skol in plastic glasses.
Worst: Carling Black Label. Had a bad pint of that. I was so sick I thought I was going to die.

Wow, we were almost neighbours!  :D  I think you've told me that before though... :-\

I don't drink much anymore as it seems to give me awful heartburn by 3am.  I can usually be found drinking Guinness though.

Guinness for me,but can't stand this obsession with chilled stuff they insist on having in pubs nowadays, stout and beer should be at room temperature for best flavour.
I have the odd can or two at home, but never put it in the fridge.

The best Guinness is found in Ireland, part poured and allowed to settle, this stuff we get here is like coloured water in comparison taste wise.

I used to drink mainly Guinness. And yes, I've been spoilt and had the proper Irish stuff.
(Its thicker, I don't think they clean the pipes...  :smiley-laughing:)

These days its mainly one of Spitting Feathers ales.  :P

Usually more than one actually...  ;D

Whatever it says on the label, it's not Newcastle Brown Ale as it no longer exists. Looking out of my window, the site of the brewery is just bare earth.

Don't like fizzy stuff, and I don't drink anything I can see through, so it is brown beer and red wine for me

Guinness (proper stuff, in a Belfast pub) with a Bushmills (fine Irish whiskey) chaser for me, or a nice glass of red if I'm at home.

Occasionally a charge of poteen (scary strong local moonshine) if I can get proper stuff.

Me too!

My favourite at the moment is Chocolate Shop red wine.  It's a strong Shiraz-type red with actual chocolate somehwere in the process.

:-[ A touch of honesty here........
Up until 1996 I would (and did) drink anything with a sniff of alcohol in it but then the NHS stepped in and warned me that 1 more drink would be my last and they had got to me just in time.
Sinse then Ive been 100% TT and hope  I can stay that way till I die.
So its coffee, coffee or tonic water for me with extra coffee to follow

Ah, Bushmills. The best whiskey in the world. Followed by Glenmorangie, the best whisky in the world.
Never had Poteen. Heard that the best was made by Leprechauns in Donegal, but it could just be a vicious rumour...
I used to make my own wine years ago.
A few glasses of Blackberry or Elderberry wine at 23-26% per bottle and you were soon merry!  :beers:

The Donegal stuff is horse p*** - you want the proper stuff from the glens of Antrim. If you can get to the Perth show next year I'll bring you a bottle over.

Beloved Bushmills Black Bush, or almost any whisky beginning with Glen...
Love 'proper' Guinness although it's very fattening. A few years ago in Dingle we asked for room temperature Guinness. The landlord knew what we meant so disappeared round the corner and the next thing we heard was the 'ping' of a microwave.
One of the best pints I've ever had. Failing that I have to to ask for a pint made up from the 'orrible cold stuff mixed with a bottle.

Ooh I know..  :P

Not had many though.

Had a clear corn whiskey called Georgia Moon. Nice but lethal!  :smiley-laughing:
