Title: Removing numbers from the new Farish 'Blue Ribband' Coaches
Post by: TimothyB on September 02, 2013, 11:31:22 AM
Has anyone tried removing the running numbers from the new Farish 'Blue Ribband' coaches, with a view to re-numbering them.

If so, what did you use? and was the underlying paint finish marked in any way after removing the numbering?

I have a number of Mk 1's which I want to re-number (I've even for the Fox transfers to do it), but want to be sure the method works for this type of coach before I mess up an otherwise perfectly good model.

Regards to All

Timothy B

p.s.  Mods, If this is in the wrong place, please accept my apologies.

Hi . I have used T cut with no ill affects and leaves a shiny area which helps in placing new transfers. Mine came from Halfords - T cut Orginal by Car plan- its 500ml so will last forever ! I pour a little into a foil tray - pie case from a maker of fine cakes, using a cotton bud to apply and polish surface once number removed I buff clean with further buds and a wipe over with a damped in water bud and leave for 24 hours - any white residue is left over T cut so clean and rinse again and allow a further 24 hours to dry. You should then be able to add transfers and coat in clear varnish to seal- leave 12 hours to allow all water to evaporate after applying transfer before over coating. Once all happy and dry 24 hours again a little weathering should blend in any carrier and varnish.
Have fun , take your time and enjoy the result
