everyone got their shopping lists ready?
i am looking to buy a class 31 (if ready), a class 50 (if dapol version ready), a class 37/4 (if ready) and maybe a class 122 in blue / grey. not going to buy any other locos or rolling stock, apart from any HAA wagons (peco or trix) that are going cheap as i need about another 10!!!
for my dad's future european tram layout i would like to get an arnold german duwag tram (if they have any for a decent price), some tomix track, maybe a european diesel railcar or 2 car dmu (which could connect to the trams at an interchange), and maybe some european buses or cars....
i need to write a list of scenic items i need, but not got that far yet!!!
tim
As for purchasing something, I only hope that I've got some money to even consider doing so!
Regards, Peter.
lol i am going on wonga now to take out a large loan
most of the locos i want are not likely to be made in time for the show so i doubt i will spend that much
tim
At this point - not a lot ...
Maybe a bargain from the GraFar stall (if such exist these days :smiley-laughing:), probably various scenic aspects (to help with the layout creation. And if I haven't picked them up before then, the last couple of N'Spirations to bring me up to date, probably from the NGS stall :-[
Not really expecting any other engines or rolling-stock, but you never know !

Hi Tim
Sadly I suspect you will be disappointed. As far as the 31 and 37/4 are concerned, no deivery dates show on the Bachmann Website yet and in the case of the first I doubt it has even got as far as a final CAD yet.
Not sure where the Dapol 50 is development wise - as an aside - it's going to feel very strange going to visit the Dapol Stand and not having a chat with (Now "Not") Dapol Dave...
Roy
Hopefully the Dapol 52 will be on sale. I'll probably end up with blue, green and maroon Westerns. If the new Graham Farish City of Coventry is there I'll buy that too. I'll also have my eyes open for a new Farish 3MT tank, 08 diesel and maybe a Dapol Hall (BR colours).
Who knows what other temptations will distract me? Last year I bought a LNER B1 from the Dapol stand because it seemed too cheap to refuse. I'll be on the look out for Gresley teak coaches to go with it this year. Other than that, I need some goods vans; anything that carried fruit, meat or fish. Maybe some BGs and GUVs for parcels traffic.
More important for my layout is stuff to turn bare foam board into scenery. Scatter and trees. Oh and I promised a friend I'd pick up a storage box for his locos and stock.
Br coaches --> cheap
Br green dieSeLs
...lots of Electra vinyls, I hope...?

I was in two minds on getting another B1; decided that as I was getting the Modelbahn Union
Mallard I wouldn't bother - that & SWMBO picking up several Bachmann/GraFar buildings that were
supposed to be cheap (boy, did I get a surprise ).
I was a little disappointed in the Dapol teaks - not with the teaks themselves, but in the limited range they'd brought ??? Got two different ones from them, found a third at a similar price (I think £1.50 more), but didn't find the fourth of the set (I think there's 4). Eventually got that from my local supplier. I did pick up the light-bars from Dapol though; they really help make the coaches . Need to sort out the internals & fit a few people, then they're all ready :D.

I've already found a teak brake 3rd and corridor 3rd. There was another brake with a different running number IIRC which is the one I "need" but brakes seem to be in short supply. A composite coach and a buffet would complete the set nicely. Probably not a prototypical formation but it should look good. Playing with an apple green LNER loco and teak coaches takes me back to my childhood best friend's train set with Hornby's Cheshire and two teak coaches.
Incidentally, I'm sure I have seen a colour photo from the 1960s of a B1 in LNER colours, so I'm sure I can justify an apple green loco appearing in 1960s Warwickshire as being on a rail tour.
Probably another CJM............... ::)
I'm hoping that Farish and Dapol will fly in some new soon to be released locos specially for the show. It has happened in the past.

Oh no
I can see a long, lingering fate awaits you, dear boy :worried:
Anyone seen that Modellbahn Union has commissioned 3 models from Dapol, all supposedly available at the show in limited numbers:-
A3 Flying Scotsman in BR Blue (ref MU10003 and limited to 200)
A4 Mallard in wartime black (ref Mu10004 and limited to 100)
Stroudley Terrier 'Stepney' in black with red lining (ref MU10005 and limited to 100)

Only if she finds out! >:D
I like the sound of the modelbahn union stuff. I might get one as an investment then sell on eBay for silly money. >:D
What am I hoping to buy?
The usual - cup of tea, sarnie, and a big cake :P Other than that, nothing. I go to look at layouts not buy stuff ;)
Paul
Small list for me this year...
1970's vehicles
MGR wagons
Assorted BR vans
Random lineside clutter
I'll be doing more looking this year rather than shopping... :camera:

The A3 was talked about this time last year - then all went quiet :worried: Can't say I care for the Gresleys in black, so I'll give this A4 a miss :(
Where did you hear of these ?

Hi Mike,
Small paragraph in this month's Railway Modeller (page 773)
Cheers
[edit] Just checked the MU website - apparently both the A3 (BR blue :() and A4 are in stock, 139E each (call it £120).
Hi Gang;
Hopefully a Scotrail Saltire 170 (or two) if the prices have reduced a little from the first 6 week price fixing.
Then anything else that takes my fancy!!!
Later;
Stu from EGDL
(Sat or Sun...don't know yet!!)
Funnily enough, to help extra fund the TINGS extravaganza I'm selling old junk at a local car boot this weekend, I'm also off to one of these 'weigh in' places for old clothes.
Gone are the days of charity clothes bags. What I do now is fill an old case full of clothes and other rags then weigh the whole lot in a oner. You will be surprised how much extra cash you can generate.
Trouble is, my wardrobe is looking rather lean now

Yup! :scowl:
i'll be the dude dressed in vest and shorts :o :P
:D :D :D
Last year i went intending to spend £40 on some goodies from the NGS stand, but i came away spending £170 on two Brits from Dapol and a Manor from Cheltenham!
This year i'm going with a budget but no real list of things i'm after, well i say that but there are three things i'm definitely after:
A third NGS Queen Mary
A few more JB Stock boxes
Any cheap 372-136 Farish Black 5's
So no doubt i'll come back with much more :D
Ollie

Silly question:
Last year I signed up to the NGS....so this year it will expire....can I renew at the stand?
Hope so, fancy a Queen Mary (and before the resident loons get in, the Brake Van...naughty :P)
Apart from that if I wonder over to Dapol and find a reasonable NSE 121 that may find a home with me.
The only other things stock wise I would like are Rail freight BAA's, but seeing as I would like 6 or so this may wait until another time...budget tighter now I am well on the way to growing up :(

I'm the same as Peter above, hoping to find money from somewhere. I'll be putting my hand down the settee and hoping to find some cash.
If I can find anything to spend, I'll probably be buying some scenic items for my British layout, Ruffield, and some box cars or similar for my American layout. If I can find enough, I'll hope to buy a Class 60 or an SD70ACe or similar.
Andy

Yes you can, Ann will quite happily take your cash off of you. I always time my renewal for TINGS as I find it easier to pay cash. Not this year though as I bought a 3 year membership last tome and beat the membership rise ;-)
Still haven't sorted out my shopping list yet, depends how much SWMBO leaves me with after my weeks leave before hand.
See you all there, I'll be on the DEMU stand as usual.
Regards
Neal.
I'm hoping to buy:
Peco Code 55 track and points for fiddle yard
Some NGS Warwell wagons
Some PG Models Warriors and Warwell carrying frames
A couple of sheets of Redutex

Because it's flaming difficult getting cash through the via the internet to the NGS ;) ;)
Not everyone uses plastic....

Thanks chaps, will take some extra cash for my next year's membership :)
