Title: My New Website for Port Perran
Post by: port perran on August 05, 2013, 08:47:05 PM
I decided to change my model railway website (using free software). I was using Webeden but have now changed to Wix which gives me more space and greater flexibility.
I haven't finished yet as I intend to add a couple of new pages(and more photos)  and also complete the listing of locomotive stock (I've only put two on so far). Got about 12 more photos to take !

I'd be grateful for your comments and also any suggestions for any changes or improvements.
Please have a look : http://martinscane.wix.com/port-perran (http://martinscane.wix.com/port-perran)

Can't guarantee that there are no spelling or grammatical mistakes at this stage !

Don't forget to update the link in your signature strip, it links it to your old site at the moment!

Works fine for me on IE, and looks very good indeed.
However, the captions below the pics tend to run into each other ???

I am getting the same captions issues as NPN (on Safari and Firefox, iPad and Mac)  :(

Regarding the link in your signature, you will need to update the link in the 'signature' box of your profile - if this does not work then let me know and I'll sort it for you.

It looks a lovely web-site though

The site looks good. I've got some issues with the captions but I'm quite happy to blame the work PC for them. ;D

Hi Martin, are you intending to put up more photos? While those that you have are very good, it doesn't really do all your hard work the justice it deserves.

For those that haven't seen Port Perran in the flesh, so to speak, it full of lots of fascinating little details.

Thanks for the comments Jack.
I may add a separate page on the website with pictures of the little details within the layout.

Just for information and I know one or two people may have added my website as a favourite, the address has, however, changed and is now    www.port-perran.com (http://www.port-perran.com)

Sorry to be a nuisance !!

Port Perran web site is looking nicely polished Martin. Having done the Hayle exhibition have you got the bug to do more by chance?  ;)

Thanks. I shall endeavour to sort the blank page problem in certain browsers. After the football tonight!
And Jack....Yes, I'm attending the Wadebridge show in early October.

White Screen problem is now fixed (I think).
It may be that you have to click on the address a 2nd time in Google or whatever you are using (just the first time you load it since getting the white screen).

Looks fine on my Mac (via both Safari and Camino). The pictures are rather small though -- I take it you haven't added links to bigger versions of the pictures?

The layout looks great, by the way. Very inspiring! I also like the captions; they read very much like the ones in train books.

Cheers, NeMo

Looks OK on my Mac in both Safari and Google Chrome browsers. Nice site, I like it a lot.

I agree that the pictures are a little small, if you could add links to bigger images it would be great.

You appear to have an errant copyright of 2023, or do you really have access to a time machine?  ;)

If I dig out chrome then it works but there's something very broken about the website not working in firefox. The HTML on the site is indeed completely broken.

It also fails with javascript blocked (eg a lot of locked down 'work' environments).

I dunno what tool you generated it with but the word "traincrash" comes to mind when I look at the HTML source for it all

I viewed it in Chrome Version 28.0.1500.95 m first and it was fine.

Just tried it in Firefox v.22 and there doesn't appear to be any problems, or am I just lucky?

Excellent scenery in the new pictures. Inspiring.

I'm busy planning and buying scenery to go with all  the locos and rolling stock I am buying ready to start building the first station, next year. It will be Cant Cove the only intermediate station between Penmayne and Wadebridge. (Although Penmayne is all planned to the last detail I think it best to begin with the much smaller Cant Cove, a typical North Cornwall passing station with small yard.)
