At some point in the near future I will be decorating the station on my layout with various objects to bring it to life.
I would like to add some hanging baskets with a few flowers/plants draped over the sides.
Has anyone attempted this and if so what method has been used to create the baskets and flowers?
Hi Lionwing,
Been nearly a year now since your post. People can be so cruel!
Anyway, am doing a Mediterranean restaurant so browsing plants, hanging baskets etc. Just wondered how you got on?
Will have a go at making myself but know everything will end up stuck where I don't want it and look out of scale!
Any tips appreciated.
Cheers weave
I haven't tried it myself as yet - since my layout so far is more urban than rural, but I believe Busch do a couple of flower kits (roses and dahlias if I recall correctly) and also something called purple flowering foliage (I think this perhaps is designed to represent the huge "triffid" that SWMBO has managed to cultivate up the side of my shed).
Just a though, but these in some hardened "Blu-Tac" might be a good starting point ? Maybe touch up some of the "flowering foliage" in different colours ?
Sounds like a perfect job for Fimo?
Try using a 2mm radius container add one microgram of miracle grow then leave outside in your garden until a passing bee pollenates with a tiny dusting of flower seed...wait a week or two for the first signs of plant life...then carefully water with a micro pipette...be careful not to over water at this critical point.. Finally hang them using strong brackets as you don't want them killing a passenger or two.........!!!!!!!
I didn't get around to the hanging baskets but do like the "grow your own" suggestion.
I might incorporate that into my new layout as work as stopped on the current one as it is now at a "playable" stage!
