My TV watching 'career' wouldn't have been the same without Not The Nine O'clock News and Alas, Smith & Jones :(

Totally agree with you, he will be sadly missed but another one where fame and fortune ruined his health, I would rather be as I am, poor and healthy.
Don't forget the worst of all worlds
Poor and unhealthy.
We watch the TV news and only learned of this when I saw a clip of the Daily Express frontpage... The big news being discussed was Queen may not see royal baby for 2 months.....
Switched to Sky news and it was mentioned. Did he offend the Beeb in his later years ?
Remember fondly the Not The Nine 'O'clock news etc.
R.I.P MEL !!!!
The BBC covered it when it broke but it seems to have been replaced by David Camoron's attempts to make children less safe and then the new royal baby story.

A zoologist (Rowan Atkinson) has captured and educated a gorilla, named Gerald (Mel Smith), and they are being interviewed on TV:
Rowan Atkinson: "Listen, when I caught Gerald, he was completely wild...."
Gerald: "Wild? I was LIVID!!! And for your information, it's a whoop, a WHOOP of Gorillas, not a flange".
One of many excellent sketches, but I think you'll find Mel was the zoologist and Rowan was 'Gerald' ;)
Altogether now "Baronet Oswald Ernald Mosley ... "
"He was popular and 'andsome, as Richard Burton. Cos I seen him on the box once, wiv 'is black shirt on" :D
