Not enough for the angry thread but, I wish this hot weather would cool down a bit or at least a decent breeze.
Also the car is using more petrol - down to about 50mpg (small car under 700cc and Black) - all because I am having to switch the Aircon on for the first 15 minutes of any journey just to make it bearable.
Wanna swap, i'll drive the car in airco, you can work here without airco :P (getting warmer inside the outside.)
Sorry, but I'm in the 'too hot' camp as well.
I love the sun and I love warmth but around 20 degrees is comfortable for me :)
On a sub thought, when will the hosepipe ban be announced? ::)
I'm with you on this one Oldman
Way too hot, spent all weekend indoors with the curtains closed and the air conditioner on. :( What annoys me too is that all the idiot DJs that were saying last week how wonderful the weather was going to be are already complaining that it's too hot to sleep at night! :dunce:
Looking forward to getting back to 18C and cloudy ;)
Paul
Yep to hot I am in work and its making me feel ill with a headache and lethargic, on a good note I finished the tunnel last night that plaster of paris does dry quick in this weather.
Only Me - The thing is I normally get around 60mpg without the air con on. If you saw our local pond you would want fully enclosed wetsuit to sit in it.
Still much better than the old car 20-25mpg without aircon and off boost Full chat with 1.8bar boost down to about 12mpg.
Paul and Mick, I agree totally it does not help when it is too hot to sleep even with a fan running in the bedroom and windows open. Only disadvantage to that is the little flying critters that come in and think I am a tasty meal as well.

Probably not long to go now :hmmm:
What's worrying me is how long until they start to restrict mainline steam tours
due to the dry ground and the risk of fires :worried:
dave
I can't stand anything above 18 degrees C. I've had the fan on in my office since April (obviously turning it off when I'm not here. ::) ;) ).
Me no likee too much heat eeetheree! A nice dry 18 degrees is fine.
I have a 140bhp 2.0 TDi Octavia, the aircon, as in climate control, has never been off!
Loaded up with heavy tools and driven hard WITHIN the speed limits it does no worse than 42mpg, usually near 44mpg, loaded to the roof with RC gear inc extra car sized batteries it does 44mpg, any sort of motorway distance is nearer 50mpg, have tried hard once or twice and got nearer 60 mpg, but that's boring!!
Don't worry about the sunny weather. In a short time it will be
"Wrong kind of leaves/snow" time again. :D
:sorrysign: :sorrysign:this is so typical English, it's always wrong
I see it this way.
hot and warm, ships to hot to work on my layout, but great I can spend some time in the garden with the missus and give her the feeling I am still part of the family
Rain or cold. Ships can't go in the garden and spend some time with the missus but GREAT I can go into my train room
you see my glass is always half full and not like yours half empty
:P :P love you all guys

Thats because we are never satisfied. (Weather wise)
Anything above 20C and I burn and leak like a sieve.
But only in the UK. Elsewhere its different.
Was in Majorca once, 26C, no leaking and no burning. 8)
Not bad for a big, pale skinned redhead! :laugh3:
Be careful what you wish for!
We only get 2 weeks of decent 25*C+ sunshine in the UK a year, enjoy while it lasts!
You will all soon be moaning when it Snows in March again, and the rest of the year is freezing cold and wet!
Nope, I love the snow and dark cold nights. :)
I'm doing my bit to reduce global warming.....always have the aircon on full cold blast, when I let all that cold air out when I open the door it must help a bit...mustn't it ? :)

And as a Leo, it can never be too hot for me, but can someone do something about the relative humidity... ;)

Could live with snow from December to March/April, cold dry and crisp to kill off all those bugs etc. Forget the rain unless overnight but love a good thunderstorm.
You get more modelling done on a dark cold winters evening. :D

I have vague memories of that summer!
The tarmac on one of the nearby roads got sticky so your feet stuck as you crossed it.
Great fun as a four year old! :D
As to the humidity, maybe the UK needs a giant dehumidifier built over it?
Think I have inverse SAD...
I hate long hot sunny days!
But love long cold dark winter days!
I spent the weekend in my den model making :) room has no windows :)
I only ventured out to buy my wife a PS3 so she's got something to play with too :)
Air con on my car needs recharging! Best done on a hot day so you can tell if the recharge has worked
Michael (in a lovely air conditioned office)
I love the current weather! :claphappy: No heating bills, open the windows wide all night and get a breeze thru the house. Dries the paint quick!!
If I get too hot, I move into the shade or indoors but near the open patio doors.
Car uses 10% more fuel with aircon so got 40 mpg in the 500 odd miles over the weekend with an average speed of 43mph, despite the bl**dy queues! Not bad for a shed on wheels.
Hoping Malta in late September has something similar - I know I'm gonna be told! :D
Strolling into town in 5 mins so better get some decent shorts and a T shirt on. Hate to scare the natives too much!
Just, enjoying a cool breeze its down to 33C now. had to abandon todays modelling as the glue kept drying. Time for a BEER methinks....
Ok the Aussies would have the central heating on by now but hey its all relative.

Missed the 1st week of it because we had gone up to Scotyland for our holiday as it started and it hissed down all week :veryangry:
Got down to the Lakedisrict during the 2nd week and roasted.
That was a real scorcher that year was.
Well I think it's lovely, my old bones just love this warm dry weather  I can get on and do that Man thing the BBQ where I do all the work (well I get the meat out of the freezer and cook the new spuds, HID doesn't eat them) ;) the good lady prepares the salad, coleslaw and garlic bread gets out the cutlery, dressing and my pickled beetroot and then all she has to do is tell me when the meat is cooked  or what? Oh and I have to pour my own beer and make sure her wine is chilled :beers:

I think I have just come across a new 'ooh err missus' comment in the above ;)
I am a winter fan myself and love the snow (as long as I don't have to drive in it) and cold crisp winter mornings. Remember when I was last in Iceland (the country), it was so cold that the plane doors froze :o and yet it didn't feel cold outside.
Today the weather has been lovely though, it is hot, 30C, but there is a nice breeze which helps. I don't function very well with the humidity though :(
I too am waiting for all the drivel that the poor hard done by water companies might spout about needing drought orders, hose pipe bans and having to put bowsers and stand pipes in the streets.Though I don't think it'll happen this year because if they do,then someone can always say what did you do with all the money you didn't pay in taxes, that would help our economy a tiny bit, because it wasn't spent repairing all the leaks that have been there for months. Our local water utility firm has spent lots of money on big shiny 4x4's this year.
As for the hot weather, generally we associate hot weather with being on holiday where we don't do much more than lie around, soak up rays and drink beer.We can't do this at home because we have to fit it around work and other stuff. My job involves working with the public and believe me,hot weather definately affects the way people think and do things, for the worse, unfortunately.
Funny thing is though, even though it is quite hot,or very hot as it has been today,I don't feel it as much as I used to.I used to be a twenty stone fatty, now I'm a fairly trim thirteen and a half stone chap now,I still can sweat a bit when I'm doing things but nothing like before.
And the aircon in my car works brilliantly,I've had it nearly 9 years now and its never needed regassing. Its a Skoda Octavia 1.9TDI,so its still very economical with it switched on,around high 40's around town to high 50's to low 60's on a run. Can't complain at that really.
Anyway, according to the weather app on my phone, its gonna rain next week, only for a bit though but the temperatures are set to drop to a more manageable 20-22 degrees C.

Me too.... after last years weather I think this recent hot sunny spell is great and to be honest I can't get enough of it! Here in the sunny south east the climate is almost like being abroad. 8) 8)
When I feel the heat though, I just reflect back on the Ally Pally weekend and how miserable the weather was on that Saturday, soon sorts me out!
However there is a part of me that kind of likes the long dark evenings as I can get back on with my projects, where the progress has slowed considerably lately.
I too enjoy the summer sun we've had past few days, makes up for
worst spring since time began. Only drawback with this weather
is the outbreak of chavs wandering about bare chested, tattooed,
camo pattern shorts from Primark etc ..... and the men are even worse. :D

Well the steam restrictions are in force :scowl:
The Tyne-Tees Streak (approved for 90mph running) has been postponed from this Friday, new date TBA
The other Steam Railtours for this week are running with diesel assistance
I was going to go get some footage of the "Fellsman" tomorrow but not sure if I will bother now :unimpressed:

It's alright for some Mick, I'm not going outside now to be bitten by the horrible little flying critters here.
At lunchtime today I was waiting to cross the road at a Pelican crossing near to a large supermarket. As I stood there along came Mr & Mrs Neanderthal, he with no shirt, she (thankfully with a tee-shirt) although it had the remains of yesterday's dinner down the front. Stig rips open one of those triangular sandwich packs and promptly gives partner a sandwich, takes out the other and drops the package on the floor. He is actually stood next to a huge cast iron rubbish bin.
I said, 'Why are you dropping that on floor when you are stood next to a bin?'
Both stopped munching and looked at me, he started to blink really fast, I took this as a sign that the other brain cell was kicking in. Sure enough, after searching through his vast vocabulary he said, 'F*** Off.' Mrs Stig, who had a little longer to search her database said, 'Yeah, F*** Off.'
She had actually exceeded his word tally by 50%, ok, she had repeated two of them, but to her credit had added one of her own.
An elderly lady with a walking stick had joined us by this time, and she pushed the wrapper toward Stig with the tip of her walking stick, and told him to pick it up and put it in the bin.
By this time Stig's mouth had gone into fast spin with the sandwich, but he actually picked up wrapper and put it in the bin.
The lady and I smiled at each other as the pedestrian light changed to green and went on our merry way, followed by Mr & Mrs Stig, who having used up their word allocation for the day just grunted and mumbled.
A small victory, but satisfying.
As I am still waiting for my LEDs from Asia, I ordered a pack of 5 from the UK to experiment with.
The ones from abroad will be 1206 and the others that arrived today are 0805 :worried: I can barely see them let alone trying to solder them.
May attempt one tonight, just got to work out which is the cathode and which is the anode.
Hi all
Well it looks like 60009 Union Of South Africa is no longer hauling tomorrows Cumbrian Mountain Express :veryangry: :'(
But it seems to have been replaced by Black 5 45231
Nothing is for certain but the engine move yesterday from York to Crewe was 45231 and not 60009
And I can't find any mention of 60009 going to Crewe today :hmmm:
I don't mind Black 5s but I have not seen an A4 on the mainline :(
But with the Black 5 having less power there is more chance that the diesel will be doing more work :unimpressed:
:beers:

Still waiting fro my Dapol Class 22 from Cheltenham Model Centre. :(
Called them once to make sure my order was still on file; it was.
Heard nothing for 2 weeks so used their website Contact Us page on 1 August to ask for an ETA. Heard nothing.
A bit irritating when you don't get a reply from a supplier that offers an online enquiry service. >:(

Out of interest, what was the fault please, Alan?
Mine had a wheel that wasn't round so one of the bogies waddled down the track. Shame as it was otherwise beautiful. It's replacement is on the way.

I know, but the pre-order was placed with a price of £94 so a bit reluctant to do that!
I did 'panic buy' one from a Liverpool source (ex stock and runs very well) as I didn't want to miss out on what could be a short production run. Paid a bit of a hike on the price though.
Another Class 22 on the layout wouldn't hurt - apart from the already battered wallet - but when? :(
