Title: No Buying Month (July)
Post by: StufromEGDL on July 01, 2013, 08:09:33 AM
Hi gang,

After failing miserably in both May and June, how do we think July will go....
The Scotrail 170 is looking favourite to bust me!!

Colas56 ordered in June and not expected till August should be safe!!

doing well so far, not bought anything yet.....  unless i've got an email from hattons thats not reached me yet  about pre-orders......

cleared all the stock off the layout yesterday to put it all alway for a bit, theres stuff i've bought and not even taken out of the boxes in the past month or two.   Kinda lost the modeling mojo, but if something comes along that you want, then you have to get it whilst its available...

I need point motors & accessory decoders, so need to buy them slowly over the course of the next few months rather than splashing around £160 in one hit so July will have some N Gauge expense

I've already gone and bought a loco (a pre-assembled kit), and it hasn't even got the correct chassis fitted, so I'll need to get a new chassis too

Hi Gang;

In deference to the traders who fear for their takings and so that they don't take out a contract on me, this will be the last thread on the 'No Buying' subject.

As it proves though, the presence of a thread implying that we can exhibit some self control in the spending department is woefully flawed anyway....

Now for 'Dry July'....after a great weekend with the Deltic Railtour to Penzance and many pints of Old Rosie Cider, 'Dry July' is the next target!!! So, how will that one pan out???

I feel your pain - I missed it leaving Bristol, my usual source is a kettle fan so he didn't mention the deltic...  :veryangry:

Well, no N gauge has been purchased since April, but a couple of days ago an order was placed for an H0 Bachmann Alco RS3 in NYC livery. Rather nice!

On its way from Canada...hopefully with me in the next couple of weeks...

Showcase for me also!

I've worked out that at the current rate of spending that there's not much chance that SWMBO will be getting a new Halloween mask this year. That should frighten the kids away if she is "au naturel"!

I made it through June, not sure about July.  Guess it depends on when Dapol's Westerns start turning up.  I also hope I've not missed the boat on getting some Graham Farish Mk2A coaches.

well the no buying thing  didnt last long....  accidently bought 2 set of the yellow blue circle wagons, some vw vans and some more noch people.

oh yeah and couple of extra folding crates to put all the stock and modelling bits in...

and a decent refurbed digital soldering station,  theres only so much you can do with 100 watt solder gun.... well i actually bought that for fixing the laptops power socket yet again.....

I can't afford to buy anything for the next few months, a new car purchased on 29th June has eaten all my pennies  :(

Snap - only I got mine the day before. As a result I'm even having to sell stuff to get by this month! (Not helped by purchasing a Farish 70 a few weeks ago too!)
