Title: Farish Burton Agnes Hall
Post by: GWR1962 on July 11, 2011, 03:56:42 PM
Just bought the above engine on the bay and it's painted up in original GF factory colours as GWR. Yet on doing an internet search it was not built until 1949 by BR.

?????????

Possibly GF hoping for a bigger potential purchase audience that if it was "just" a BR loco?

It doesn't actually look much like a Hall anyway its a somewhat old model when standards were different.

I'd check photos though - a lot of preservation stuff that was BR build still got GWR paint at one point, just as we now paint all sorts of coaches BR maroon that didn't necessarily ever seen Maroon 8)

Burton agnes Hall carried the GW livery in the late 70's on the GWS railtours and if drink hasn'y completely clouded my memory it ran with a Hawksworth slab sided tender.

I take it YOU are going to ordain it to Saintly status.

Yes it currently has Saintly parts but needs painting.
