This is a new known spider, so please take note
Has been found all over Eastern Australia and heading to WA.
Looks similar to a huntsman.
This spider is in all states so watch out.
Not a good look!!
Please take note of this spider - it is very dangerous.
Please warn kids and send to every one you know to alert them as well!
This spider is breeding at a rate of speed and is found in more and more houses!!!!
Please ensure all the family takes a good look at this spider..........maybe some should not look at the photos of the person who got bitten on the thumb and the end result....... But please take note of what the spider looks like. So if it looks like a huntsman and you are not sure..........unfortunately, but for your safety's sake........KILL IT!!!!
Other pictures removed as this spider causes serious damage to the area where the bite has occurred.
Sorry if those that saw the picture found it to be rather revolting, I posted it because this spider has become quite common and I would hate to think one of our Australian forum members had been bitten by one when I could have warned them.

Yuck! :worried:
Seems like nearly everything can kill you or cause you serious harm out there!
One reason why I like the UK - only one thing poisonous enough to cause serious harm, and even then you have to be pretty unlucky even if you can find one!
Paul
Whilst we do have a large amount of the deadly insects - They're not quite lurking in every nook or cranky.
It's the silly things that catch you out like forgetting to check your shoes/slippers in the morning. G
Take adequate care, always look and be ready to take avoiding action. If in doubt don't go near it unless armed with a spade or other suitable "flattening" implement.
Yep just goes to show the lengths we go to, to keep you lot out. Once upon a time it was the simple dingo or croc but those backpacking poms :P still kept coming so we had to find something new
:D

I have amended the title as the picture is horrendous
Do we have a member called "Squeamish" ?

Crikey sorry I never thought of putting that Jane, us Aussies get used to seeing things like that and don't really give it a second thought.
Sprintex,
I thought you had bankers and politicians in the UK like most other places. (They do count a biting and poisonous don't they ?)
BobB
You don't have to check inside your shoes for them in the morning though as Trainsdownunder suggested earlier! :D
Seriously, that would drive me batty having to be that paranoid about lurking spiders, I'd be in the loony-bin in months :-\

I was asked by Trainsdownunder for the link to the original email re this Spider.
The original email was headed Australian Red Cross.
I searched the net for the original and found this

Even our benign domestic ones get anywhere. I threw back the bedclothes to get into bed one night to see a humungous spider scuttle away :o
Ever since then (more than a year ago) I still inspect under the duvet before hopping into the sack :worried:
Worse than the ex :D
True unfortunately Paul . Shoes if left about do need checking. It not unheard of for nasties to seek places of dark and solitude even on a temporary basis.
Some of our eight legged "friends" appear without any warning.
My sis in law suddenly found a Huntsman crawling across her lap whilst watching TV (she was watching the TV not the spider, Nobby). Not poisonous, but at about 3 inches across leg to leg, big enough to give you a painful bite. Somewhat un nerving. However, being a farmer's girl she just brushed it off and proceeded to make it twice the size with a copy of the local newspaper.

Here in the UK I usually give my shoes a good knock on the floor before putting them on these days. A couple of years back I was trying unsuccessfully to get my foot into one of my outdoor shoes kept by the back door for trips out to the dustbin, etc. Closer inspection and a good shake produced a sizeable and bewildered looking toad!
the white tip spider is the litlle bugger that causes the final outcome of the bite shown in the pics. been biten by one but was very lucky
