No idea if they are a bargain or not, but an ideal way to run in locos on DC before chipping them for DCC.
The Standard 5MT shown on the stand used 4 of the units so cost would be £32
Hi Mick,
When we were at Preston a young lady was giving out leafelets for these saddles in the refreshments area, although i havent looked at their site.
Bachrus have for a long time have been known for rolling roads with the DCC concepts active set more recently, i have the DCC concepts one which covers 4 scales the blocks included to make them interchangable it is the most expensive mind

Thank goodness i bought my set when they were similarly priced to the ones you found :)
Bachrus prices are here ..........

So the ones from Directtrainspares are good value at £32.00 i would like to see a review of them, just looked at their contact details & they are literally down the road from me so i could be paying them a visit soon to take a look at their stock ;)
These cheaper ones are advertised on eBay as well, I did have a look at them because the listing initially indicated £8.50, then you read on and realise you need four although the price for four is £32, so money off for multiple purchase.
They are one of these "things" which would be nice to have but if my locos run then I am happy, if they have a slight wobble I can't see it where I might if it were stationary thundering along on a rolling road. Using them for running in a loco, I think I would rather be hypnotised watching it going round an oval of track. This way I am getting to see every side of the loco and should be able to spot any defects.
I think for the amount of times I would use one of these I would rather spend £32 buying more stock that I really don't need :-[
Here endeth the ramblings - John ;)
Well .... they're cheap, I'll give them that.
Can't say I like how they are fitted to the track - just laid on it ??? No attempt to make a saddle that fits onto the rails & reduces the chance of everything falling off ? :scowl: I'll give it a miss ...

got a set of six at my offer price. its the same seller as they arrived in a nice little spares box with the shops logo on it.
they really on the threads of the protruding screws to grab the track.
they are perhaps a bit too long(wide) to get 3 under an 0-6-0 or a Co-Co boggie, so a set of 4 should do for diesels.
i'm going to mount mine between brass anglestrips on top of a box with volt and ammeters.

How do they perform Andy grippping the track ?
You could do a tutorial how you mount them between the brass strip with meters a more economical way of setting up a rolling road unit :)

they grip ok, though there's not a lot of the screw sticking thro the bottom so might get sloppy over long term use.
i was planning on doing some photo, as i get round to making it, see my other thread in the dc wiring section on volt and ammeters for my travails so far.....
