So how deep is the snow near you?

3-4 inches in Birmingham and still snowing

Where is here, Upnick?

I'm in Northampton where it has been snowing much of the night and, without going out to measure it, we have 1 - 3 inches depending on how sheltered it is.  My car is disappearing under it.  IT's 8:45 am. and looks set for the day.  Brrr... back to the modelling, lol.

A little West of you, Owl, near Ludlow.  If you have Sky News you can see for yourself - they have a roving hack there.

I'd say about 6 inches on average here ... but there are some sculpted drifts in the garden a good 30+ inches, including a very thin "defensive" wall around the front of the house  ;D  Looks surreal  :D

It's not stopped snowing since this time yesterday ...

Only about an inch here in Swindon, and the big snow flakes that were falling appear to have changed to something looking a lot more like sleet.

Already have had to call off our first week away - we were due to be taking our caravan to Derbyshire tomorrow, but understand that the roads around the site are treacherous, so we have booked into a different site near Torquay instead (heading south rather than north!)

Spoke too soon - sleet has now gone back to big flakes and quite heavy!  At least the roads appear to be staying clear.

It's been snowing for the better part of 48 hours on Merseyside. There's about 3" on the ground in places. Still, it didn't stop me visiting my local MRC, for the first time, last night!

No snow in Newcastle but it is very overcast and the pavements are drying out at the moment

We have been told that snow may well hit us later today and tomorrow  :'(

I don't have any plans to go out anywhere so I will just have to get some rolling stock out for some excercise  :D

cheers John.

Well, I've just driven from Lancaster to just south of Northampton.  It's really not bad. Some places have snow, others none.  One or two places there was a bit of slush in the outside lane of the M6/M1, but it was all moving freely enough.

Looks like it should stop snowing here about 4pm, but as the temp will not get above zero until it peaks at +1 tomorrow lunchtime, it will not be thawing soon. Chaos on the roads on Monday.

The deepest I've known it here in Telford for many a year.  Over six inches easily up our hill, couldn't make out the road at all first thing this morning.

And it's definitely the deepest the dogs have known it, as Penny went *rse over tip when they charged out with their normal excessive glee this morning.  Shouldn't laugh :smiley-laughing:

Snow?  ??? What snow?

We have what is sometimes known as "Liquid Cornish Sunshine" (that'll be rain to you lot) and lots of it! Hence why Cornwall is so very green.  ;D

Ah! So that is what it is - every time I have been to Cornwall I have gotten VERY wet!!   :rain:

Nowt here but a spot of really strong wind, looks like it mostly missed us. Not so good in the North East of Wales. Amused to be watching a report from on the BBC news snowed up in Coedpoeth, as it translates to "the warm wood"

Got to take my 7 year old to Royal Princess Hospital in Telford for a little day-op on his ear for 7:30 on Monday. Hope it clears a bit, it's taken a while to settle him for the impending op. Really don't want to have to put it off!!

Wonder how they did at Ally Pally - haven't had anyone from London call in on this.  Here in Northampton it hasn't stopped all day - mostly fine stuff but the thaw that started earlier has vanished, covered over again.  Glad I'm not expecting to go out tomorrow, I'd have to dig us out.

I'm in a Yorkshire Dales village - our hourly bus service was suspended this morning but a Tweet on their website announced "we're going to try and send out the 10.30 to Pateley Bridge. Good luck Nidderdale."

Wouldn't mind a bit of snow here instead of the weird weather we are having.

We had several Tornado's in Victoria last week, they did terrible damage and put 80 people in hospital, in the past we never had Tornado's so what is going on ?

Here in Northants the snow varies between about 4" and almost 18" where it's been drifting and it's still coming down. It's a good job I lit my little parrafin heater in the greenhouse last night.

Here in the Midlands near Banbury in places we have 18 inch snowdrifts so I won't be going anywhere!

With Tornadoes in Oz and Deep Snow in the UK during March 2013 (compared to a heat wave in March 2012) i would suggest global warming or a new ice age (dont know which!)
Probably means we are all DOOMED! :help: :smiley-laughing:

Had a total of about 4" of snow now although it's all melted off the roads now, even in our quiet little loop where it usually lies for days :)

Went to the Dean Forest Railway today and there were an odd couple of flakes of snow in the air a couple of times, but not enough to really consider as snow.

Saw a few cars driving about while we were travelling to and from the railway that had an inch or two of snow on their roofs. Didn't see any snow anywhere else though.

Nice load of snow dropped here over the weekend, drifting well with the high winds. As the snow on Friday was "wet", and yesterday "dry", we now have soft snow over slush, which is freezing tonight, especially the wheel ruts. Dog did not know whether to slip on the ruts, or dive head first into the drifts - managed to do both!

Shock is not the word I'd use, couldn't believe how cold it was when I got off the plane at Luton Airport and now, what with the snow, I'm regretting I came.  I was going to come over in February but decided not to as I thought it would be too cold, little did I know.   :o

Can't wait to get back to my sunshine and warmth.   :)

It's been very odd in my part of cumbria, where I live is on the edge of the snow go a few miles and there's been lots of snow. But to the north and out in the village I work in there's no snow at all, apart from a pile of snow under one of the wagons, seriously I can't figure out how it got there, someone must of brought it from home.
