Title: Spending my grey £s
Post by: gwrfrank on March 20, 2013, 04:45:19 PM
Spent some grey pounds at B&Q today the pictures may turn up in my layout thread http://www.ngaugeforum.co.uk/SMFN/index.php?topic=12278.msg126058#msg126058 (http://www.ngaugeforum.co.uk/SMFN/index.php?topic=12278.msg126058#msg126058) later but for now

I bought some pine furniture board a couple of shelves and a fire extinguisher.

The board was to fill in the space between my work bench and part of my layout.

I looked at one of the shelves in store and decided that it might just be wide enough between the lip at the front and back for my dcc power supply and later the booster and so it was  :) The other might be a place to put down my controller still haven't ruled out that use but It wasn't quite the perfect size. Anyway I put the board in place under the spur I put in yesterday and fitted the shelf (I may move it up or put another similar shelf in later, once I have done the dcc bus across that area)

Finally the fire extinguisher. Given the 10A I will have available from my dcc bus and the plethora of inflammable materials I have in my loft this was long overdue.

Apart from the extinguisher I could have made all the rest but hey I need to spend my time modelling.

Let's hope you never have to use the fire extinguisher

You did well with the shelf for your power supply, it looks like a neat fit.

The only problem with new horizontal surfaces is they soon fill up with stuff

cheers John.

That's the excuse I used on my ex whenever I put shelving up on the slant :D

If you ever have to use the powder extinguisher, you can kiss goodbye to the locos and stock.

As to the layout - instant snowdrifts!

Yeh speaking from a fire fighter view, a powder is way too messy. A $20 toaster fire turns into a $1000 clean up bill. Buy a co2 extinguisher
