Title: Corridor connectors
Post by: kiwi1941 on June 17, 2011, 07:25:27 AM
Has anyone any experience of the coach corridor connectors being sold on eBay by "connect-ions". You can see them as item #320714955323
TIA. Brian

I'd be interested in this as well 'cos I don't like those gaps between my carriages. At one point I thought about making some from concertinaed black craft paper but never got round to it.

look okay, hate the presentation of the item. Use matt black sugar or rice paper and fold it to form correct shape for each sytle of coach. One sheet will cost about 10p will do loads of connections.

You could try making your own as shown here. http://www.ukrecmodelsrail.co.uk/modules.php?name=Content&pa=showpage&pid=28

that's a good how-to poliss, although I'm assuming those are only for folded up ones rather than connecting ones as they don't have the top covered. Managed to pick up some black tissue paper today, so going to have a go at some.

I found another guide since I posted that. Might or might not look better.

Here's a bump for this topic. Connexions are back in business:

They look rubbish and very expensive IMHO. The links to make it yourself site (elgin) look much better. I'll be having a go myself.

I've not used black sugar paper since I was at school.  :dunce:

Cheers

It's probably been banned under health and safety rules. Potentially bad for your teeth...

Just looked at this link & measured the gangway on a Dapol Gresley. The gangway is only 7mm wide so I think you'll find measurements are for OO

I bought a big bag of about 50 folded-paper ones from Ebay ages ago. Not used them yet but I know they were much cheaper per item than those ones listed ;)

I stumbled across a Hints'n'Tips for corridor connections in the NGS Journal, issue 2/01 page 33. No idea if it works, though.
