I know a question Tank would like to ask him......

More like a bullseye!

Ah well. I think we have all benefitted from Dave's willingness to engage with Dapol's customers. Of course the flip side is that people get unrealistic expectations of what such interactions entitle them to. Plus Dave is only human and has bad days just like the rest of us.

Still going to visit though.  :D

Its a brave decision, but at least Dapol are providing a real face for their company so good on them for at least trying it.
Regarding the practical side, i feel that Dave will be the brunt of alot of flak........

I will keep an eye on this one............

Just had a good look now at the ask Dave section on their new website. Dapol Dave is asking people to only contact him regarding Technical questions, rather than 'When is this out?' or 'When are you going to make this in N Gauge?' type questions....

Question to ask him :-

..........I'm afraid. I'm afraid, Dave. Dave, my mind is going. I can feel it. I can feel it. My mind is going. There is no question about it. I can feel it. I can feel it. I can feel it. I'm a... fraid. Good afternoon, gentlemen. I am a HAL 9000 computer. I became operational at the H.A.L. plant in Urbana, Illinois on the 12th of January 1992. My instructor was Mr. Langley, and he taught me to sing a song. If you'd like to hear it I can sing it for you.

I like the last paragraph:

"It's also worth noting that if your not using a compatible controller for your gauge, and electronic track cleaner (which Dapol never recommend), or a DCC decoder which is also not recommended, and don't clean your track very often, I wont be able to advise you towards better running. If your model has ceased to work then my suggestion is to contact DCC supplies  www.dccsupplies.com (http://www.dccsupplies.com) with a view to letting them take a look at it (they are our official service and spares/repairs agent)."

Does that translate as "I'm going to pass the buck anyway"?

Also not sure I understand the wording: "if your not using ... [an] electronic track cleaner (which Dapol never recommend) ... I wont be able to advise you...". So, Dapol never recommend an electronic track cleaner, but if you don't use one, I can't help you.  :confused2:

I thought it translated into "for god sake get a proof reader"  :beers:

It's a nice idea - and better then their facesuck only stuff.

I've always found Dave to be very helpful and a credit to Dapol.

This new idea makes it easier for people to engage with Dapol for techinical issues although I've no doubt there will be people who will abuse it.

Yes, the Dapol Dave tech question part of the website is a great improvement, if you want to know when this is out, when is this coming then they invite you to contact them via their website with those sort of questions.  Keep an eye for further announcements perhaps later this week.  ;)

Ill give it a month before they get fed up and close it down again. The wording to me seems to say, if it dont work speak to dcc supplies, kind of pointless having a technical advice line, its advice just not helpful advice, and yes ive been on the end of the "not my problem" line when it comes to dapol but i wonder whether they should be renamed Microsoft, technically correct but completely useless advice.

Its got so much promise yet i just cant see it lasting!
