Title: Is this true?
Post by: petercharlesfagg on February 21, 2013, 02:13:28 PM
Friends,
I was just browsing on Ebay and these locomotives popped into view!

Is it one of those things that "Look to good to be true" (And probably is!) or is it for real?

Regards Peter.

I think you will find it is a Del Prado type static model, no moving parts

Hi There,

This is a Del Prado model....so under scale and unpowered. Some unscrupulous traders on the auction sites pass these off cleverly as n gauge models.... Caveat Emptor!!!

Well its 1:160 - so it is proper N scale (not British N) but a static collectors toy.

Some of the Del Prado models can be motorised, but that is generally the diesel/electric stock. In fact  for some countries such as Italy it's a major source of N scale bodies.

 :NGaugeForum:

I think it is most likely to be a static model. As it is 1:60 in scale it will be smaller than British outline locos which are 1:148 scale. You could get away with parking it in a siding at the back of a layout.

Veronica.

Hi Lawrence,

Yes..made it, eventually. She was on the same Tri* but kept away from us even during the ( unplanned) 10 hour stop at Akt.

Prob won't see her as we are doing RSOI over the weekend. That's two days of crap with the Army to you...

Friends,
Thankyou for the replies!

It is very misleading without any information in the write-up!

As you say "Let the buyer beware!"

Regards Peter.

Excuse me for asking but what is the relevance of this post to the original?

Regards Peter.

Dont worry about going off topic too much Stu, the OP has posted in the wrong place anyway. Posts concerning E-bay, should be posted in 'eBay Bargains and other items of interest'. Hope you are well btw Stu,

Kind Regards All
Dave

Why should I post in the right place, it appears that a general discussion can take place anywhere on the forum!  Perhaps we could get a few more to hijack!

Where is the "eBay Bargains and other items of interest" I cannot locate it it!

I have only been here a few weeks and trying hard to be one of the crowd by joining in, I'm not sure why I bothered!

Regards, the original OP!

Peter,
If you go to the Home Page and then scroll down you'll find the E Bay board.
It's one of the most enjoyed features of this forum that we can have a bit of banter in any thread without umbrage being taken. Life's too short etc etc
Sadly I am one of the worst culprits :P

Just like to say Peter, that this Forum prides itself on being friendly and good natured to all and sometimes things do go a bit off topic, check out my Boxfile layout thread for example!

When people start picking up others for going slightly off topic in a thread where they have just been helpful, then generally this is seen as a wee bit rude.........
