Title: Lyddle End Curved Platforms
Post by: Richey1977 on February 12, 2013, 02:16:58 PM
Hello.  I'm a newbie - half-wat through building my first railway layout, in N Gauge.

A quick question - I'm looking to use Hornby Lyddle End platforms on my layout because they offer a ready-made option for curved platforms.  I know they're not the most realistic of platforms, but I plan to re-paint or re-surface them - it's the structure and shape of them that will save me a scratchbuilding job!

They will go alongside a siding that I haven't yet laid, so the track option is still open.  My question is:

Are the Lyddle End platforms neatly compatible with Peco setrack?  I have in mind a sort of 'long-S' shaped platform, and was hoping to use the peco track I already have.  If they're not compatible, It would be a lot easier to buy the few track sections for which they were intended (would that be Arnold?) than to scratchbuild a platform that will be almost the same as a ready-made one....

And a silly question - I'm assuming that the 1st radius platforms fit inside a 1st radius curve, and the 2nd radius platforms fit outside a 2nd radius curve?  So in theory, a double-track line made with 1st and 2nd rad curves could have a platfrom either side....?

Thanks very much in advance!

I've never figured out what track system they relate to. Their 'R2' one appears to take Peco R1 track on the inside edge and R3 on the outside edge.
