Title: What paints ect. for potential respray?
Post by: bbdave on January 27, 2013, 07:43:02 AM
Ok i might be attempting a respray of a class 56 into Colas livery.

I am ok with spraying having done larger projects before but i think the masking ect. will be more specialised eg. finer detail for the mask to go round on a loco so where do you guys get your gear and what do you recommend as i need to cost the project and provided detailed accounts to the boss before purchasing anything :(.

Basically these are my questions i would prefer to use acrylics

-How do i strip/prepare the shell for spraying?.

-What colours/shades do i need for a Colas livery?.

-What masking shall i use?

-Where can i get the Colas decals?

-Do i need to coat the finished shell in varnish to fix the decals if so gloss, satin or matt

Thank you for any help

Dave

Theres a thread here about Colas resprays, might be worth contacting them to find out what shades/paints they used? Tamiya masking tape is the best to use I've been told.
