Title: Freighliners
Post by: SD35 on January 16, 2013, 05:11:03 PM
I'd like to get hold of a freightliner set for my layout but am unsure if the current available items are suitable.  Apart from the single Farish units, would anyone know if the newer and much nicer looking Dapol and Farish container sets are suitable for the early 1990s period?

I'll go with the old style Farish ones if they are the only option but they don't look as good as the newer ones.

Thanks for any advice.

IIRC the prototypes for current Farish intermodals were brought in for the Channel Tunnel traffic so would not have been seen before the mid-90s.

For early 1990s you'll be better off with the earlier Farish container flats updated with TPM's detailing kit if it's now available.

Thankyou for the info.  I've just browsed the TPM and ATM sites and will work out what I need.

Thanks

There were various different batches of the FIA/IFA Multifrets (as modelled by Farish) some of which were built in 93/94.

Thanks Mike.

I'm going to order ten of the single Farish ones and mod as necessary.

I've also noticed that I can't spell freightliners.     :-[

Or the Worsley works kit ones - which are vastly superior to the Farish effort.
