Title: So are we still here then...?
Post by: Dock Shunter on December 21, 2012, 11:20:10 AM
Just wondering if i am the sole survivor of the apocalypse or did any of you make it through as well...?
Must admit i did get a little worried  :worried:  when i heard a rumble in the distance which got louder......but i was relieved when it turned out to be a road sweeper driving past my flat....... :D

I'm here too and if we are the only survivors I'll see you at Rails and we'll bash their door down for stuff :D

What a complete waste of time and effort :veryangry:
I've been sat on our factory roof in full NBC gear which, I can honestly say, does not keep out the cold. :cold: Luckily I had with me an industrial size bottle of Southern Comfort although I now need to find a lift home  :pint: as the local police obviously assumed nothing was going to happen and so are out in force (to hell with dealing with proper crime).
I now have to go Christmas shopping as I had naturally assumed the 25th December would be cancelled due to lack of interest/people/the world.
To all those who wished me a happy oblivion.....................................same time next year?? :dighole:

Still here as well, have had only the chest xray thos morning.
Been given an apointment at  the quacks this evening as they think I may have a chest infection.
Joy i don't think- could be antibiotics over xmas-no booze ( sobbing quietly)

;D

There is still time left NN . . .  and there are worrying portents of doom here in South West Trains land. We've got the pestilence (Ash dieback and mice in my garage), plague (Novovirus), famine (no refreshment trolley on the train) and now the floods . . . .

. . . . so maybe I won't be on line tomorrow . . . .

In the words of Cpl Jones - DON'T PANIC! DON'T PANIC!

A few more of  :pint: will help the waiting.  ;D

I'm glad I haven't got one of those Police Class 37's (as in the old BR tv ad) because then at least I can drink and drive  play trains while I wait.

This is TRUE !

It was a snowy gloomy day this morning up here in the mountains, then at 10 past Beer o'clock the projected time of Armageddon, I suddenly felt a wave of heat on my back thinking *** its  happening I grabbed my beer and toasting Mrs H (no I am not into canibalism)  thought  :dighole:.

It was the sun burning through the clouds but it did make me think for a minute...

Guess I might get to finish thelayout one day after all.

Still here in Brizzle.

Judging by the que to get into local Tesco and petrol station, people are either panic buying or doing a NN and only now bothering to get Christmas sorted.

Just been on Hattons website and found a decent value 56013, but not trusting the post at the moment, might challenge the model railways direct price promise. Has anyone else done this recently?

All good down here in Cornwall still.
We sat in a cafe a Falmouth at 11.11 looking out to sea with a cup of coffee waiting to see what would happen.
Nothing did but the coffee was nice !

You can get very cheap ATI graphics cards these days that are plenty quick enough for anything but high end gaming   ::)

All is well down under - as much as it can be anyway. Just the usual boring sunny start to the day with temps expecting to hit around 28/29 today, possibly warmer tomorrow

I have a condition called haemachromatosis which is too much iron in the blood. The treatment involves having to dump a bag of blood monthly (which goes straight in the bin), in order to bring the iron content down. Anyway.... it turns out my iron content has gone back up in the last month, and the doc has told me to lay off red meat and cut down on the booze. I explained to him that it was nothing to do with my love of steak and beer, but was caused by the reversal of the Earth's magnetic field that occurred on the 21st, but the b*g**r wouldn't listen.....  :'(

Hope you were honest with how much beer you drink as doctors tend to double what you tell them as people lie. So, if you've been honest then when they say cut down you can stay exactly where you were. Honesty is the best policy...hic!  :beers:

Also its Turkey and sprouts week, next week, so you can detox (well fart) yourself better!

Not belittling your condition so please don't be offended.

Hope all you aussies have a lovely time in the sun but it wouldn't be same here without floods, sleet and general traffic chaos. As Noddy Holder shrieks ITS CHRISTMAS!!

Happy Christmas Weave

Sorry to read that some of you guys aren't so well. Hope it doesn't spoil your Christmases too much.

I regularly get chest infections which along with other stuff can be a real pest. Recovering from one just now so hope it will be clear in the next few days.

Merry Christmas and a Healthy and Happy New Year to all N Gaugers wherever you may be.

:beers:

Hey you guys!

Especially you northern hemisphere types - all is well here! Too much iron in me blood..... I'd better start crossin' over to the Iron Horse, like Trainsdownunder!!

Have a Merry Christmas all of ya... I took a picture of the Christmas Tree in the middle of Sydney when I was up there on Monday (before the end of the world) and will try and get it on here. Nothing like London's, unfortunately (it's plastic!!).

Best wishes to all of you and your families for the season.

George  :beers:

Happy Xmas to one and all.
Currently doing the xmas present deliverys by car to those we will not be seeing.
Judging by the roads round here in some places a floatation collar  and outboard motor are needed.

My Father in law reckons he has it, has to go to the blood bank all the time. I reckon there must be some cute blonde working their.

I did it today/yesterday. I got a box of code 80 track for £59 (usual MRD price £76.25)which was £52 + £7 p&p at Hattons. I also bought 371-178A for the Rails price of £52.50 as opposed to the MRD price of £76.40.

Just mention to them the price difference and there doesn't seem to be a problem with matching it although they may add the postage price.
