Hi,

Slightly off topic but still technically a train.

Two road trains at Scarborough. My sone loves these and is always wanting to go on them.

And the NRM roadtrain.

This got me thinking. Not easy I know. :smiley-laughing:  How many of you model a seaside resort railway? Wouldn't one of these look cool trundling along the main street?

So I'm going to have a go at scratchbuilding one of them. Well its going on my scratchbuild to do list ;)The Scarborough ones seem to be built by Doto Trains, Castelfranco, Italy. Musty see if they have a website.

Anyone have any other photos of these roadtrains?

Could the Faller system be adapted in order to model this?

I wouldn't mind a go on them, either

Hi Lesmond,

It's possible the Faller system could be used/adapted but it is quite expensive. The front and rear wheels look the same size so I may try and adapt an Oxford chassis and build on that. I could always make the rear wheel look bigger by boxing it in as in the photos.

Hi Alex,

That would do it alright - the Faller kit is a shocking price!

If you do go for it, post loads of pics, please

Hi Alex,

Why not use  magnets on a system  under the baords  to   power it  espceially the rare earth type  no chance of the train  going wayward with them  :D

Alex

That's always another possibility. My boards are half inch thick though.

Been on a few of those myself, always great fun, although technically they're called 'landtrains' rather than roadtrains  :)

This is a roadtrain:-

GRRR!!  ;D

Hi Paul,

Now that would be a challange and a half. Any takers? :smiley-laughing:
