Station Nameboards

What would be the width of board in the 1930/40 period?
I have assumed about 12" maximum but when printed out for N gauge they look tiny, out of proportion and hardly legible.

Are you referring to the boards at the ends of the platform informing you which station you are arriving at? Or maybe the signage pointing to the gents or ladies etc?

I bought the full station set for 'Kimbolted' including 'Change here for Oxford' etc

Best thing is to find some photos of typical nameboards and judge the proportions from those?  I expect it varies for the different railway companies but they may have had standard sizes.   For example I've seen mention of "12 foot and 15 foot boards".
