Actually not too worried, from hacking and kit bashing I've produced about a dozen SR 4-6-0s of 4 classes; doing a bit of mix and match between Langley S15 and BHE N15 plus different loco chassis, I've produced Urie and Maunsell versions of N15(king Arthur), H15 and S15 and a bit of hacking plus a BHE N15 tender will produce a Nelson from a Scot or Patriot (the Nelsons originally had the same tender as the Maunsell N15s, Bullied introduced the higher sided tender, as I model mid 1930s Bullied's influence is absent.)

Quote from: Dorsetmike on March 22, 2024, 08:38:08 PMSo you're saying I'll never see a Southern 4-6-0 from Farish nor Dapol?

I am not saying you will never see one.

I am saying it is highly unlikely you will see one if there is no market in it for the major manufacturers.

Computer Help / Laptop/Monitor Choices
Last post by Hightower - March 23, 2024, 08:23:05 PM
The laptop I use to control my layout is old and knackered and definitely needs to be replaced, so I'm looking for ideas of what settup others use for computer control of their layouts. (In terms of laptops, monitors etc rather that software.)

My current laptop to a 40cm (15.5 inch) screen. I dont really want a screen any smaller then this, but it doesn't look like many laptops come in this size anymore. I'm therefore wondering about remote screens and weather to put them on the front of the layout or on the wall behind. I currently sit my laptop on a saw horse just under but level with the front of the layout.

What settup do others use?

Thanks

My new LMS twin, with a crew. Runs quite slowly, but very smoothly. I usually weather everytning. Holding off on this one, I don`t want to ruin the silver.

they are no better when you leave them.
I phoned up to cancel my EE account, and after several attempts to get me to change my mind with 'special offers', they finally accepted that I wanted to stop, then and there.
advisor told me it was all logged, and a final bill would be sent. I asked about returning the router / hub whatever.
"oh you don't need to" was the answer.
fine.

anyway, a few days later I was packing the hub into it's box with all the other bits and saw that it had clearly printed on the bax that I needed to reurn their property.
I phoned up again, and asked which was right, and I was told I did need to return it. the advisor then checked my account and asked if I was now ready to cancel my account.
I explained that I had, and this one seemed to know what he was doing. he also checked the call from a few days before, and confirmed what I had told him, but the previous advisor had filled everything in, but not clicked submit
he checked and confirmed when I had last used my connection, and backdated the cancellation till then.
he also quoted me a rough final total due of around £30 less than the previous one had.

the next day I got an e-mail confirming the phone line had been disconnected and I would be sent a jiffy bag to return the hub.

EE was FTC ie then copper wire to the house, while the new one is FTH ie fibre to the actual hub.
faster, and £12 a month cheaper.

No, all they're about is relieving you of as much money as possible, at which they are very good.

Mademoiselle Élise continues. "Next, Mesdemoiselles, I present the 'Lune d'Argent' or 'Silver Moon' clutch, a crescent-shaped marvel. Its surface shimmers like moonlit water, and its delicate lacework reveals glimpses of the silk beneath."

Sylvia leans in, whispering, "It's said to have been inspired by the moonlit gardens of Versailles."

Eli whispers back: "Moonlit gardens of Versailles? Imagine the secrets whispered there, Sylvie!"

"It's as if the moon herself wove this", answers her friend as she gently traces the lacework.

"And now, the 'Étoile Brillante', or 'Dazzling Star', clutch, a true showstopper", continues the designer. Its silver threads weave intricate constellations, and tiny crystals catch the light like distant stars."

"The Milky Way in my hands. Eli, can you feel it?" asks Sylvia as she carefully holds the exquisite little bag.

"Marvellous, enchanting", her bedazzled friend replies.

"Eli, dear, we're cradling galaxies", smiles Sylvia.

Mademoiselle Élise watches their astonished reactions, her mesmerising amber and hazel eyes alight with anticipation. "Choose wisely, mes chéries", she murmurs. "For my clutches are no mere accessory—they are enchanted holders of your dreams. And do not ask the price; for you both, there is no charge. Lady Penelope has instructed me to debit her account... in full."

As Sylvia holds the silver 'Étoile Brillante', she feels as though she is cradling the entire Milky Way in her slim hands.

And so, with Sylvia's reassurance and Mademoiselle Élise's blessing, the incredulous Eli selects the 'Pochette Constellation Poussière d'Étoiles' clutch. As she hesitantly holds the 'Stardust Constellation' clutch in her hand, the young Breton knows that Christmas Eve night, beneath the chandeliers of Trevelver Castle's magnificent chambers, she will carry not just a midnight blue silk bag to match her stunning gown but her very own uniquely crafted piece of magic.

"A splendid choice", its creator murmurs. "May it nurture your dreams, dear Elayne."

Meanwhile, Sylvia's discerning eyes have settled on the 'Étoile Brillante' clutch. Its silver threads weave intricate constellations, and its tiny handsewn crystals catch the light like distant stars. Holding the 'Dazzling Star' clutch, her decision is made—her perfect celestial companion for the grand ball.

Mademoiselle Élise nods approvingly, her captivating amber and hazel eyes gleaming with satisfaction, the sleek black cat, its eyes like obsidian pools, gazing up at her. "Another splendid choice", Élise murmurs. "May it nurture your dreams, too, dear Sylvia."
