WINNERS ANNOUNCED AT MIDDAY.
Welcome to our second annual raffle. Last year was a great success in raising funds for the forum and also a £100 donation to Help 4 Heroes.
The format and charity will remain the same again for this year, where I'll donate some of the money raised to H4H.
I wish to thank the staff (remember they are volunteers!) who work very hard on the forum. I also wish to thank everyone on here for making it the amazing success that it is. For without your reviews, layouts, tutorials and helpful nature this forum would be just another forum. I for one really enjoy it here (despite the hard work behind the scenes), and I'm very grateful to you all for the great community that we have here.

So, how does the raffle work?Firstly, you need to buy your tickets! You can use the link at the bottom of this thread (please send your forum name with your payment using the 'messages' box). You can buy as many tickets as you like, as this will obviously increase your chances of winning one or more of these goodies! You can see for yourself that we have some fantastic prizes that have been generously given to us by the shops and companies listed.
What happens once I've paid? You will be sent a receipt by paypal about the transaction, and I will receive one as well. I will put your name down on a spreadsheet with how many tickets you have bought and their numbers. On the 1st January 2013 another member of the NGF staff will pull the numbered tickets from the hat one at a time, and will let me know the numbers in the order that they were picked. Only I will know the winners names, and I can compare them with the ticket numbers. This allows everyone on the forum to enter the draw, except for myself of course - as I feel it would be wrong not to include our moderators. Pengy will post all of the prizes out on the 16th January 2013. Please make sure you are around before then to reply to the messages sent to the winners! We don't want Pengy to have to keep going to the Post Office.
Please visit the websites of the companies that gave so generously by using the links on the forum, and letting them know that you are buying from them because of the N Gauge Forum. :)
Thanks very much to everyone in making this a great place to come to and for keeping this such a friendly forum. Good luck!
All nations welcome to join. :) NGF Forum Members only.
LAST ENTRY - 31st DECEMBER AT 12:30pm - GMT.
Due to problems with winners not replying to emails and Private Messages last year, prizes that aren't claimed by 31st January 2013 will go into another draw.
Tank,
Excellent news, always a great way to raise funds for another years payment for the Server + software.
I see the most sought after prize will again be the NGF nug :D :D I hope it's the pint version and not the 'normal' one ;) ;)
Cheers
Neal.
Thanks Neal! It's been a nightmare for us to organise as usual!!! ;D
I'll leave it to the winner to chose what size they like. I must say, I prefer the pint sized myself! :)
Must be late night over here Tank, Ive donated but neglected to chuck my name on it, so it's probably anonymous now! :(
One note Tank.
People must remember to ask to write a note to "the seller" to put their name in.
You have to ask for it.
Cheers Tim
Well done Chris, staff, and all prize donators for getting this organized again....
Some great prizes in there.......
Great to see this again, some great prizes already :D
It was last years raffle that got me reading the forums!
Tank
I wasn't a member last year, so this is all new to me.
But I think it is a great idea not only for raising funds but for making the Forum even more friendly! :)
I take it we can buy tickets when ever our wallets allow?

Feel free to PM me. Paypal does accept a good array of bank cards, and you don't have to have an account with them.
Have purchased a few tickets, thought I'd better get in quick before the flood :'(

This is such a cool forum. It's like cyberhome. I went in the raffle last year and certainly will again this. Especially as I had a win on the Melbourne cup this afternoon. Go Green Moon! However in relation to this it's now 9.30pm here in NSW and also in relation to aforesaid Melbourne Cup win I'm a bit under the weather and don't wanna mess around sending money over computer. Will wait until morn. May feel better then and capable of doing monetary transactions.
The prizes are very tasty. :beers: Cheers George

Hi Alan, when you go to pay with Paypal there will be a place that you can send a note to the seller (me!). and this is where you should write down your forum name. This will help me to know who has won the prizes.
thanks Tank. all clear now.
Great Idea,
Hope mine are winners.

Just bought my tickets, only ever won once in a raffle, I do hope my luck changes though haha.
Put in my entry. It would be nice to win something, but I am not too bothered if I don't... I did once win an airline ticket from Abu Dhabi (where I lived at the time) to Manila in a raffle at a Filipino social club Christmas party I attended with my wife. Kind of ironic really, as I was the only non-Filipino in attendance. There were a lot of disappointed Filipinos at that party.... :smiley-laughing: :beers:
Happy to make a modest donation to the running of this forum. I've learnt a lot from it already! :thankyousign:

Just a reminder that you that you still have plenty of time to enter our raffle and support our chosen charity, Help for Heroes.
http://www.helpforheroes.org.uk/index.php (http://www.helpforheroes.org.uk/index.php)
Our sponsors have been very generous this year in donating some super prizes that should appeal to a wide range of N gauge tastes (no chocolate though!). And more prizes have been added since the Raffle was first announced.
For example, there are over £400 worth of vouchers to buy items from our sponsors. Plus steam engines, diesels, a limited edition DMU, a continental train set, track sets and controllers, and other terrific prizes.
The first post on this thread will give details of how you can get your tickets
Good Luck!
Thanks for that, Pengy, 'cos I haven't bought mine yet and was wondering how to now that the banner has gone from the home page. Will be getting some soon!!

I've only ever won a prize in 1 raffle and that was in 1987 at RAF Stornoway when I won a clock/radio, which we're still using 25 years later.
But I've still bought my usual tenners worth of tickets for this one, as I did last year, regardless of whether I win anything or not.

....well it was established 4 years ago...... I mean..... :laughabovepost:
Just bought my £10 worth.
Last year I was lucky enough to win 2 prizes. This year I will put in £10 as I think I did last year too.
However, I would also like to re-donate one of my prizes from last year as it will never be used here. If the same thing happens, ie someone wins it but doesn't want/need it then I will offer to list it on ebay and donate the full selling price to the :NGaugeForum: rather than waste money on postage and send it to someone else who doesn't need it.
The item is a Ratio Engine Shed, ref 203 which can be seen below. It appears that it usually retails for around £13.
It should go without saying that this is brand new and boxed, just as if you bought it from a shop.
Can this please be added to the original list?

I think they class a Raffle as some form of gambling. There are loads of cases where raffles for charities have been closed down by PayPal. C'est la vie :(

Its to do with it being a raffle/gambling and not actually a payment for a product or service technically. When Tank told me, I looked through their T&C's, but could find no restriction on this within their own documentation (but I could be wrong). I suspect its because its not registered with the Lotteries Commission or some other random bit of legislation thats covered under their general "Thou shalt commit illegality".

Oh yes, don't worry, everything is fine with the raffle in terms of past tickets. I am just not able to put a button on here advertising using Paypal to buy the tickets. I can't say too much in public, but please Private Message me to buy your tickets. ;)
Not many sleeps to go now, lads & lassies :laugh3:

In regards to tickets, I managed to buy some successfully just before Christmas from here in Oz. Just follow Tank's instructions. I too, couldn't see the price, but apparently from reading this thread, it's fixed.

I wasn't actually trying to be funny, bad taste or not. That is really how it works with US companies. I've worked for US companies where wearing a gun to work in the office is perfectly acceptable but having a single beer at lunch time or even keeping alcohol of any kind on work property was an immediate firing offence.
Alan
Replying to EP:
Thank Heavens I live here (Oz). No guns on job, but one Friday back in 1991 or so I went and had a few beers with a couple of mates in the lunch break! Got back to work (teacher) and deputy principal hauled me off class pronto. I argued, but to no avail.
Some of the kids who were in my science class that afternoon are now in their late thirties, and often have a drink with me and laugh about that day.
But I still kept me job, and am still working there a couple of days a week to this day.
Yep, major issues to be addressed in the USA.
George
Hi Team,
Not sure who does the banners, but your NGF raffle & Christmas/New Years banners are great.
I guess by now it's closed, so good luck all those who bought tickets!
It's just after 9pm here as I write this in NSW and the 'early' firework display is now on telly over Sydney Harbour.
Basically that means it's the 'family' display before the midnight one before all the ferals hit the streets and the hospital emergency wards become inundated. Right now TV is full of fireworks over Sydney Harbour bridge, but we are getting in yer face TV hosts telling us they will be back at midnight and vote on yer iphone blah blah blah.
Bah Humbug. Hate New Year, but it's gonna be a good one... heading over to UK!
