Title: Flippin' retailers.
Post by: emjaybee on February 05, 2019, 11:56:35 AM
It's like they don't care.

Fancy having Farish LMS Jinty's at £74.50 with free postage. Don't they know it's just gone Christmas? Don't they know I'm self-employed?

Humph.

Put my back out this morning and the vans battery was flat, day goes from bad to worse.

Stuff 'em, that's what I say.

:veryangry:

Oh yes, now £74.50 lighter.

:-[

I'm so weak.

It is not only retailers who are to blame . Some forum members have a nasty habit of bringing bargains to the attention of other forumites!  ;)

Because of you I not only ended up with four US locomotives, but I then somehow got to the point of having nine Burlington Northern box cars.

The locos just looked odd running round on their own, so I had to get some stock!

Oh yes, and a caboose!

I'm so weak, it's embarrassing.

Arbut, when you come down to brass tacks, I was doing you a favour. You have to admit that you now have some lovely rolling stock.  :-*

I hope you've got a spare room, 'cos if the wife finds out I'll be needing another favour!

@joe cassidy (https://www.ngaugeforum.co.uk/SMFN/index.php?action=profile;u=1484) See what happens when temptation is put there?  What are the youngsters gonna say when they go to get the savings to buy Mummy a little pressie. ??? @nookfield (https://www.ngaugeforum.co.uk/SMFN/index.php?action=profile;u=7153)  should have kept the information to himself - how many others will fail the test?  :worried:  :)

See, I was well behaved. You didn't see me tell everyone it was Rails, just like I haven't mentioned the prices at TMC. Some of their prices are astonishing, I suspect they may lighten my pocket mood by the end of the week.

I resisted the Hornby Bournemouth Belle first time around and, despite being informed Hattons are taking pre-orders for it, I must and will resist again. It's completely out of my modelled location which has no third rail facility but it is in the right era. Oh damn, I've just made a reason for getting one but, no, I must resist resist resist resist

Neither did Bournemouth until 1967 or so. Seems to co-inside with the repainting of the Brighton Belle to Blue/Grey.

There was a post yesterday by @nookfield (https://www.ngaugeforum.co.uk/SMFN/index.php?action=profile;u=7153) (https://www.ngaugeforum.co.uk/SMFN/index.php?topic=44355.msg552312#msg552312 (https://www.ngaugeforum.co.uk/SMFN/index.php?topic=44355.msg552312#msg552312)).
I've now got a maroon ended BR inspection saloon on its way to me - I didn't need it as I've already got the black ended NGS one, but this is the one I really wanted but missed out when they produced it.
Oh, and I ordered some more track and rail joiners whilst I was at it ready for the construction of my layout that might be starting sometime this year!!!

My problem is that I have to sell at least two locos to be able to buy one new one , Still it's sorting out the impulse buys that I could afford when I was working .
I think the government  as well as a winter payment should give us pensioners a HOBBY BONUS now and again that would help ,I think when we have the next general election I will have to ask which party will agree to that .

Could be be quite costly. But, think of the money that would be saved overall - pensioners keeping active, both physically and mentally so less dependence on the NHS. I am sure there would be other benefits to the general economy as well.   ;)

Its out of my area as well, so is the Midland Pullman...  But I have both now!!  Now I am resisting that damn GT3 if it ever happens..
