I just received this hard to find DRS escort coach. Now I need the DRS nuclear flask wagon when it is released to go with it.

I also pick up this "pre-owned like new" class 57 Virgin Thunderbird from Hattons. Oh and some Asda containers as you can see in the background.

I got off to a pretty good start at collecting stuff for my proposed fictitious preserved layout "Spark Hill", paid my mates shop a visit this morning and this is what I picked up.

Keep on Smiling

Nice buy! I have a few of those early Farish engines and they still go alright. My panniers have coppertop chimneys, though - have those been repainted?

Yes George they have been painted, I had previously traded them at my mates shop but bought them back, I will be making my own decals to put on them at a later date.

The 3F is an oldie but great runner, I bought the other four new about three years ago, I will be adding copper details when I decal them.

A brand new class 73 Pullman bargain (£90) from TrainWest in Melksham??

I've been looking for one for years - always silly money!

This week I bought a Dapol Virgin book set instead of the Network Rail power cars as originally intended because the Virgin HST has been reported in the past running in 2+2 formations.

[smg id=11644]

It provides a backup to my Grand Central HST set in case of problems with its motor and/or electronics.

I'm suprised that Dapol didn't include the Pullman liveried class 73 in the batch of forthcoming re-releases.

Best regards,

Joe

Hi Joe,

The 73 was issued in Pullmann as strictly a limited edition of 300 per name (ergo 600 loco's in total), so unlikely they will ever get re released so as not to pee off those who bought originally.

Mind you, evening star was issued as a limited run too, and that's in the new catalogue so I guess 'limited edition / special edition / limited run" even when giving production numbers doesn't count any more.

Cheers

Ah yes, but the new Evening Star claims to be weathered, making it a different issue I presume.....

Another Farish loco- broke my own rule about seeing it run first.

A secondhand A1 off eBay.

[smg id=11699]
[smg id=11698]

DCC fittedbefore I got it.  One or two problems at first-
It had been picked up by the tender and allowed to swing, bending the brass wires on the loco-tender connection AND on the connection to the rear truck.  A little fiddly to fix but these are vulnerable to mishandling.
The piece said "only run for 20 mins"- looking at the wheels that is most likely correct BUT it felt as if it had never been run in reverse- very lumpy until given a half-hour spin.
I can't persuade its chip to accept a long address, so I'm stuck with the last 2 digits of its number (I use last 4) for now.  At some stage in the future I may well put a better chip in.

Now sorted and renumbered and renamed as 60124 KENILWORTH, a loco I spent what my parents thought was far too much time drooling over at Darlington shed when she was main line pilot.  Will be used mainly on parcels traffic on Hawthorn Dene, sharing two duties with a Britannia, an A3 and a B1.

All the very best

Recent Binge - trying to finalize my B&O and C&O rosters. Getting close...

That C&O loco is an Atlas - and it's one that actually pulls reasonably well. Smooth as butter and just pretty to look at.

The B&O is another Life-Like E8 monster-puller. This one was/is a project. Needed external cleaning, wheel cleaning, and I might get brave one day and take it all apart. That said, it runs, and lights, and it pulls better than any other North American loco besides it's very own near-twin B&O LL E8 that I already own. The ACY boxcars are for my Akron, Canton, & Youngstown short/local line.

About 2/3 of these are Micro-Trains or Accumate couplers. I'm trying to upgrade. Man, are they smooth and so far don't seem to have the random uncouplings that rapido have.
