Frozen Yahoo Mail Account

I just tried to log into my Yahoo mail and got a message saying they needed to verify it was me. However, the only back up mail address is my old work one and I've been retired nearly 8 years!!
The online Help system just seems useless as my problem doesn't fit in with any of their 'standard' issues. Has anyone else experienced this and how did they get round it please as this is a real problem for me

Had a friend with a similar issue. I think he eventually by following this information was able to put in a phone number to get the reset code.

It also says it should be available in 12/24 hours for normal login but not sure on that.

The only other thing I have said to people is don't use yahoo seems to be the most hacked email out there, and I say that judging by the spam that hits our email from members and former members who have or had yahoo mail accounts.

Looking on google there's a paid-for support number but that seems like a monthly subscription.

There's a "sign-in helper" which gives you options like a phone number or alternative email address, I'm guessing it will send you a code.

Good lord. I've heard of 'loyalty', but a Yahoo email account? Cripes, didn't know they still existed.

Yes, this has become a more common problem!

I had stopped using one of my Yahoo ID's and email, but then needed to access it after all.

I had used a disposable email address as the emergency contact and this had expired automatically and was no longer accessible.

Lesson 1 - if you use a Yahoo disposable email address and let it lapse, you can't use that same email address again.

So, I went through the Yahoo Help system which is initially online only, with no success.

Lesson 2 - Yahoo online help is great until you use a response that it does not understand. It puts you back to the start of Online Help.

Next - As I was Group owner and moderator - go onto that group on Yahoo and raise the question.

That gained me a direct response from Yahoo with a Help Desk 'phone number to call.

Called the number, had to go through every Yahoo email address and answer the security questions or personal details.

Having satisfied the help desk that I was indeed the person I know I am, I gained an email for 'Forgotten Password' to one of my other email addresses.

All a lot of carry on for what should be a simple solution.

It seems to have let me in again. I need it as my mail address is where order acknowledgments, notifications, paypal etc etc all send stuff to. There's no way I'm changing all that lot
Also, quite a lot of info stored in folders in my Yahoo mail account.

I regularly change my password and the current one is 20 characters long inc a Capital letter and 3 numbers. I have a job to remember it myself! As a result I get hardly any spam at all, and certainly less than many other forum members seems to get.

Now that you are in you should be able to change the recovery email address to one you still have access to.

I avoid Yahoo at all costs, for som3 reason if you do not  Log in every week they close your account, might be exaggerating but you know what I mean. I once ended up with three accounts because of the stupid password stupidity.

Set up a gmail account or a hotmail account and then you might be able to replace your works account in Yahoo, rather than trying to delete it.
