Quote from: lil chris on August 09, 2023, 06:02:23 PMHi there is there anyway to reinstate the old way of logging out. The new way ie clicking on your name then click log out seems a little long winded, especially when the site was running slow. Hopefully that will not happen again, but you never know. Any way thanks for efforts. Chris H.

why log out ?
i used to be indecisive...but now i'm not so sure.

@Bigmac I've asked that before of someone asking about logging out, I think they said they used a shared computer but not separate accounts? It's only a hobby forum so nothing sensitive (unless you don't want the other half to know how much you're spending on toy trains  :D  ), but whatever.

Under the old server you could tell whether you had tagged someone as the font changed to blue and, I think, was underlined too. Following the update the type face and colour is identical to the rest of the post so difficult to see at a glance.
Could the tag be somehow highlighted please?

Has something happened to the 'Messages' box or have I inadvertently changed a setting. The lower half with all the messages seems to have moved to the right.....

Mine are ok, on me phone at any rate.

The reason I want to log out is sometimes I use different devices, currently I am on my I pad. When I go up to the railway room I use a windows pc. By the way I want to point out about one of my previous posts about the site being slow, I had not read the previous posts about the problems because the site had locked up, I have apologised anyway. Stand down. Someone who shall remain nameless sent me a message with a humongous link that hadn't wrapped so pushed the text box waaaayyyyyy across to the right. Deleted it and all is well again :)

I cleared the cache so hopefully those on desktop see the right tower with donation box and those on mobile do not.

I use 3 different PCs depending on where I am in the house.  I never log any of them out of the NGF  :)
No big deal if you prefer to log out, just for most of us there is probably no advantage in doing so.

er... I see the new message in the Quick Reply post editor saying to use the Reply button to add images, but... the "Add Image to post..." link has now gone from the editor presented by the Reply button. Instead it says the same "use the Reply" button  message but I HAVE  ???   Can this be put back how it was please?

@ntpntpntp It has not gone anywhere. You're probably just looking in the wrong place.

The link for posting images no longer exists under the REPLY button

@NGFTech That message is now very misleading. Fair enough that in the Quick Reply editor you need to be instructed to use Reply, but when you're actually on the Reply edit page. It still says to use the Reply button which of course starts a new reply and so you go round in circles.

The old message "Add image to post and upload to gallery" is what that link actually does (at least from the Reply page) and therefore what the text needs to say.

Is the problem that the same piece of text (as an active link) is used on both editor panels?

Maybe it needs to say something like "Click here to add an image (but only if used from the Reply page)"

what is the purpose of the large parentheses symbols on the home page ? Most are orange and pale blue-some are half orange, while a few are ghostly pale ?

i used to be indecisive...but now i'm not so sure.

ntpntpntp

@Bigmac   ?? I'm not seeing any large colourful parentheses on the home page? It all looks pretty normal to me.
