These Dapol 86s are lovely models. Very underrated, and at £70 (for the DCC version, I believe) a steal.

They look even better under the dummy catenary things!

Cheers, NeMo

How do I explain this to SWMBO in the weeks before Christmas?
Carefully.

And, for safety, wearing a suit of armour. Either that or via long distance phone call.

I do like the look of that new N class loco, especially in grey, how does it run?.
Can I afford another steam engine I keep asking myself, as I have too many engines for my layout as it is.

No such thing - you can never have enough engines! Even I like the look of the N class, and am sorely tempted by the GF Landtrain set - but I collect LNER and PKP, so it would have to be rule 1 big time for me to get it!  :(
LNER and PKP fan in the home of the GWR!

The problem is of course,if you don`t buy the locos or coaches when you see them, they sell out & you don`t know when they will produced again.I had this problem recently buying Dapol lined Maunsell coaches & farish SR green Bullied coaches.I got them in the end. :)

It's a great little runner - smooth and excellent on DCC ( Lenz silver chip)

That's where I keep mine! One day I will do something with them...
Working doesn't seem to be the perfect thing for me so I'll continue to play.

As it turned out, she wasn't too fussed. Means she has been buying something for herself which I know nothing about!

Maybe it's an N gauge item for you.
Yeah - I know. I had the wrong sort of mushrooms for dinner (again) :laugh3:

As a service to the community, I've gone ahead and invoked Murphy by purchasing a Farish Class 50 to ensure the Dapol version is released sooner than expected.

I'm sure the Dapol version will be much better, but this one looks good enough to me, and it was only 60 quid new  :beers:

Also a blue GUV, which I seem to recall seeing mostly sitting by their lonesome selves in sidings or parcel bays.

'Tis the older Farish version but again it looks good enough, especially as the livery is quite dark.

Very pleased with the 08 as well, runs better than I expected (and to my relief the outside frames make it only a tiny smidgen wider than my current clearance tester, a Kato Shinkansen coach, so no unexpected platform edge problems  8) ).
