See, I like the idea of the above mentioned boring layout. I will have buildings on my next one, but I'd love it to be 8' long so I can have some lengthy sections of just scenery for the trains to roll by.

I'm fixing track. Laid down by track-virgin scottmitchell74 about 13 or so years ago, it's in need of some attention in places. Glue is drying. Hopefully current still flows 33-36 hours from now when I lift the weights off the affected area.
Spend as little as possible on what you need so you can spend as much as possible on what you want.

Nothing, as it's Mother's Day and SWMBO would be a bit miffed...

And in Los Cristianos it's Carnival Day with a big parade, fun fair, and music & dancing through the night. Got family out so it's a Mothers Day lunch out first then on to the carnival etc.
I was looking forward to watching Liverpool beat Spurs this afternoon, and the Grand Prix, but that will have to wait for Match of the Day and a repeat showing of the Grand Prix.
Don't think I will have time to visit my lockup to do some more work on the track today, but did manage to install another side point motor to a point yesterday and test it.

In between waiting for the delivery of both a new washing machine and dishwasher (yes, both packed up within 6 days of each other), started laying swathes of destruction across the 'exchange sidings' end of "Dunestone". Pictures to follow in my layout thread later...

If tutenkhamunsleeping can let me know where I can get one of those Tracy Island buildings, I'll be making a 'black hole' in the baseboard too.

It's a new month and I decided I wanted to change my layout again, not being entirely happy with what I presently have. Wanted to simplify it by removing some of the points so less chance of derailments (which I was getting on some points), but at the same time have a longer (double) run on one of the tracks allowing 2 trains to run at once, but using 3 "loops" in total if you understand my meaning.

What I have come up with is the layout below (I cannot increase the size due to space restrictions) :-

Track T1 (in yellow) having a figure of 8 and crossover to utilise more of the track,
and the outer track giving 3 different paths through the main terminus using either T2, T3, or T4 (coloured red & purple).

As usual it will mean me ordering some more track from Hattons in order to complete the changes but hopefully it will be more interesting than before, and with fewer points, fewer derailments.

The grey coloured track are the sidings.

Have fun with the rework.

Look forward to pics in due course  :camera:

screaming and swearing about a certain company who think is was a great idea to glue their chassis together, you all know who I talk about!

I am using a terrier (oops that gave it away) under a kit bashed body and decided to add tender pickups for reliability then the trouble started, trying to access the pickups to clean them and to add feeder wires, nigh on impossible - had to cut the glue connecion to take the think apart and now it is back together, it is running the opposite way - aaargh!!!

Time to chill out before stripping it down and swapping the wires around again!

Making a Metcalfe Brewery building kit... If this is the industry I want to have on the private siding on the amended "Dunestone" then I need to know how big it is and how I can accommodate it around the private siding that will serve it...

However, a little advice needed. Got most of the main Brewery building constructed and this happened:

One of the windows obviously had dodgy glue on it and has fallen inside

a) How can I get the offending article out - it was loose inside but now is not rattling about;
b) How can I get a new window in there
- without dismantling the building again?

I have been working on my second hill and tunnel mouths. One thing I found putting plaster (( lightweight hydrocol ) straight over paper and cardboard is a no no, mind it was only cheap paper from packing. I just thought I would save on plaster cloth, but when I make the final hill and tunnels I will use plaster cloth again.

a) shake it and poke about - but it may be stuck forever

b) either drill a hole in the floor and do microsurgery (not that hard) or take something like insulation tape and stick a tiny piece to the middle of the new window. Apply glue to the edges, rotate it through and then pull it into place. Once it has set carefully peel the tape off.

Check with some scrap if the tape lifts off or makes a mess of the window.

Other options include boarding it up, gluing shutters over it, covering it with an airconditioning unit etc. Or even I suppose two blokes with a ladder and a new window unit 8)
