wasn't softly, softly actually an off shoot of Z Cars ?

seem to remember that initially CID were in Z cars, but later they seemed to be more uniforms, while softly softly took over the 'detective' side of things.

might be wrong, it was a long time ago ...

They used to have the nickname 'Flying Pigs', (not because they were used by the Police, but because they were a pig to drive!).

Addit:

Taken from 'Wikipedia' -

Softly, Softly is a British television drama series, produced by the BBC and screened on BBC 1 from January 1966. It was created as a spin-off from the series Z-Cars, which ended its fifth series run in December 1965.

I'm too young for Z cars and Softly Softly. I do remember Juliet Bravo. Had a bit of a crush for Kate Longton. Or was it her uniform and the authority she held..................

In April 2024 I will be raising money for Cancer Research UK by doing at least 100 press-ups every day.  Feel free to click on the picture to go to the donations page if you would like to help me to reach my target.

To follow the construction of my layout "Longcroft" from day 1, you'll have to catch the fish below first by clicking on it which isn't difficult right now as it's frozen!

Original run of both Z-cars and Softly Softly were done live from the Gosta Green studios in Birmingham. I joined just as Pebble Mill was opening, but heard all sorts of stories about the show. As it was done live, the actors often had to get changed behind a bit of scenery and Stratford Johns used to tell a story about dashing through a door on the set and straight into a Frank Windsor changing his trousers.
The years have been good to me, it was the weekends that did the damage.

Didn't Dixon of Dock Green used to come on after Dr Who? Or am I hallucinating?

If I'm hallucinating, just say I'm hallucinating.

If you're hallucinating, I've taken the same exotic substance, as that's my recollection, too...

So much for social distancing, staying at home, and police enforcement of the lockdown.

This, and other items in the news worldwide today makes me despair.

The virus in the world seems to be some of the people! :censored:
