This was Saturday night near Gembrook, (end of the Puffing Billy line) where she lives. Just walked down the road and set up the tripod to take them.

You can reduce the chance of that happening again by installing the Aurora App on a phone or tablet. I have been using it for a couple of years now and it has alerted me to possibilities of seeing Aurora Borealis several times and delayed me going to bed.

Thanks! I've installed the app, and I got a notification to say that I can see it if I go to Iceland! (No, not the supermarket, before anyone suggests it...) It will be interesting to see what it comes up with.

Woke up to the sound of water dripping. Never a good start.

Turns out a pipe joint behind my newly lime plastered/papered/painted wall in the kitchen had sprung a leak and water was running down said wall. The wall will probably be fine but the paper is ruined. Why it didn't go down the other side of the wall into an unfinished room and ruin that instead is the annoying thing.

Regards the leak, the only thing I can think is that an old push-fit joint (its grey plastic pipe work) came loose after the pipe it was joining was flexed slightly. Pipe was put in years ago by the previous-previous owners and the joint is now completely inaccessible.

Aaaarrrrrrgggggggghhhhhhhh 

So I've had to cap and cut off that whole section of the pipe work so no hot water to that part of the house now. Nightmare but at least the immediate problem is over.

Now I just need to get someone out to see about laying a new section of pipe via an alternative route.

I'm trying to stay positive so the only somewhat good thing is this happened now and not after the new floor, the wooden worktops and units I've built from scratch were installed in the kitchen.

At least it happened now and not sometime in the future. That would have been a bit annoying!

Such a sad reflection on how respect for other people and property is shown these days. And it will not get any better due to the lenient system we have now - but that is for another topic.

What a great looking layout. Shame I never saw it on a visit a couple of years ago.
I guess even if they catch the scumbags responsible there'll be the usual smack on the hand
